This position provides direct support to the Construction and Maintenance Project Supervisor in the management of and metal fabrication projects and space use to meet quality and safety standards and meet project deadlines. Activities include preparing drawings and sketches, ordering materials, preparing estimates, reviewing consultant drawings and instructing staff. In addition to providing hands on fabrication, the incumbent in this position provides mentoring and leadership to skilled staff in the fabrication and installation of critical hatchery and fish production components.

Working Conditions:
Work Setting, including hazards: Duties are performed in a fabrication shop and on occasion at construction sites in the Hatcheries and Wildlife areas. Work may involve rough terrain, small spaces, and severe weather – at times lifting up to 50lbs of materials in project site. Must be able to negotiate water in emergency situations.
Schedule: Work 6:00 am-4:30 pm, Monday-Thursday with overtime as needed/requested. This may include overnight stays and evening and weekend work.
Travel Requirements: 20%-40% depending on season.
Tools and Equipment: Hang and power tools, as well as welding equipment.
Customer Interactions: Frequent interactions varying between Federal, Local, Inter-Agency, and Intra-Agency customers and vendors.
