Construction managers in MSF play a crucial role in ensuring that all logistics activities related to construction and rehabilitation meet the needs of MSF programmes according to our protocols and standards.
From planning and coordinating construction projects to monitoring ongoing works and ensuring compliance with safety standards, construction managers are at the forefront of supporting MSF’s programmes.
This is a diverse and dynamic role supporting our humanitarian and medical activities, involving some or all of the following:
Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor all logistics activities related to construction and rehabilitation according to MSF protocols and standards.
- Collaborate with the Project Coordinator and Logistics/Technical Logistics Coordinator to plan, establish, and review all construction/rehabilitation activities, including budgeting.
- Ensure compliance with MSF standards, protocols, and procedures in all construction/rehabilitation activities.
- Plan construction/rehabilitation projects, participate in project design and development, and ensure technical aspects comply with local construction habits.
- Coordinate purchase orders, check materials in stock, and manage warehouse inventory control.
- Prepare budgets for construction/rehabilitation projects, process invoices for payment, and anticipate cash flow for monthly payments.
- Provide safety equipment and ensure compliance with safety standards for construction workers.
- Collaborate with the Project Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, and HR Coordinator on HR processes for staff under responsibility, including recruitment, training, briefing, evaluation, and development.
- Provide technical support and coaching to logistics staff.
- Follow up and report on work progress and technical aspects, participate in monthly reports.
- Perform delegated tasks as specified in the job description.
Requirements:
- Essential: University or technical school diploma.
- Desirable: Studies related to construction or engineering.
- Essential: Minimum two years of experience in construction.
- Essential: Proven understanding of MSF field logistics.
- Proficiency in the project language is essential (English, French, Spanish, Arabic); local language is desirable.
- Computer literacy.
