Join us as a Construction Procurement Manager at our Fanrborough site where you will provide a ‘best-in-class’ procurement service for our Construction and Facilities Management Procurement Team, providing full autonomy in the role where no project or day is the same.

About the role

As a Construction Procurement Manager, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, developing new supplier relationships in order to meet QinetiQ’s future aspirations. This will require negotiating favourable terms, using the appropriate contract from the NEC suite of contracts with suppliers and prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of Construction works. You could be working on a range of Fit Outs, Refurbishments and New Build projects on a vast variety of sites including, but not limited to, Hangers, Ranges, Laboratories, Commercial Offices and Test Facilities.

You will have the support of highly experienced Procurement Managers that will provide you with the training and development to be successful. We are therefore open to applications from Construction Managers and Commercial Managers from the Construction Industry who are interested in utilising their experience for an innovative organisation that can provide extensive flexibility and home working.

Accountabilities of the Construction Procurement Manager

  • Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers in order to influence behaviours and ensure appropriate involvement of Procurement in all sourcing activities.
  • Collaborate with the Project Teams and Group Property to identify opportunities to utilise supplier relationships and frameworks that leverage Group scale. Conversely, the Senior Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for identifying repeat requirements from the projects pipeline and deliver suitable, long term contracting mechanisms.
  • Responsible for driving the sourcing process, identification of Risk and Opportunities, and for working collaboratively with key stakeholders within the business to execute the procurement strategy for the full range of procurement projects.
  • Influences adjacent functional team members to improve solution design or commercial offering.

This role is full-time, 37 hours per week and we offer flexible, adaptive working options, with typically two to three days working from home. The ability and willingness to travel to various sites is required.

Essential experience of the Construction Procurement Manager

  • Proven contract negotiation and stakeholder influencing skills.
  • Contract knowledge of NEC suite or JCT.
  • Procurement knowledge and understanding.
  • Extensive knowledge of the key commercial dynamics in the construction sector including industry trends and standards across a range of categories.
  • Influencing, creating and executing strategic Make Vs. Buy decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience of the full end to end procurement process.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems and infrastructure.
  • Understand impact of external customer requirements, recommends and executes solutions to minimise risk and significantly improve probability of winning external bids & tenders.

Qualifications for the Construction Procurement Manager

  • Degree in a Business or Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • CIPS or RICS Qualified or equivalent experience.
