We’re hiring a Consultancy Coordinator to lead the coordination and delivery of support for groups
applying to the Community Ownership Fund (COF), guiding groups in developing business planning
material, managing consultancy contracts, providing project support, and contributing to business
development and innovation.

Job Summary

We expect this role to focus on coordinating and delivering support to groups who are
making applications to the Community Ownership
Fund 
(COF) and other similar programmes like Big Local. COF is a
grant programme open to groups wanting to save, run and manage assets at risk of going out of
public benefit. There are a range of asset types that can apply to the fund, and Shared Asset’s
focus is on supporting those developing plans for land-based projects (e.g. farms, woodlands,
parks).

The role holder will need to be skilled in supporting groups to develop business planning
material, or finding expertise to develop that material – for example business plans, Theory of
Change, organograms and financial models and forecasts.

Whilst this role is primarily focussed on this project, there may be other opportunities to
support and deliver similar pieces of Shared Assets’ Consultancy work beyond the COF
portfolio. 

Main Responsibilities

Consultancy and support delivery

  • Coordinate and support colleagues to deliver high quality consultancy work for a variety of
    clients
  • Project manage consultancy contracts, ensuring clear briefs are set, and key milestones are
    achieved
  • Deliver excellent outputs such as options appraisals, workshops, training and reports for
    clients

Project support

  • To provide practical support to community groups, social enterprises and landowners who are
    managing land and environmental assets either on an ad-hoc basis or through funded support
    programmes
  • To manage day to day delivery of contracted and funded support programmes

Business development and innovation

  • To work with the team to seek out and develop new consultancy opportunities, particularly
    those that help Shared Assets increase its impact
  • To identify, connect, engage and build relationships with others who share our values and
    mission and who are also working towards a more just and sustainable land system to identify
    the potential for greater alignment, effectiveness and collaboration.
  • To scope out, seek funding for, and implement new products, programmes and services that
    could generate income for Shared Assets

General

  • Contribute to communications and raising the profile of the organisation
  • To provide reports and information for the board as required
  • Provide support to colleagues where needed, including in the running of events, training
    and other activities
  • To participate and contribute to the development of Shared Assets as an organisation,
    including being accountable to policies, and helping improve those policies where relevant
  • Any other duties as may be required in a small organisation
