How can you make a difference? 

The Communication Section at UNICEF’s East Asia and Pacific Regional Office is seeking an individual consultant to increase UNICEF’s profile as partner of choice for High-Value donors and businesses in East Asia and Pacific.

Work assignment, Expected deliverable and Delivery schedule:

During the consultancy period, under the direct supervision of the Regional Chief of Advocacy & Communication and Corporate Alliances Specialist, the digital consultant will undertake the following tasks:

  • Social media community management focused on a business and high-value donor audience.
  • Create, edit and/or author communication content targeted at a business and high-value donor audience with a primary focus on donor engagement, particularly for the RO’s Twitter and LinkedIn channels (in collaboration with all teams across the RO).
  • Create, edit and/or author communication content for the RD’s Twitter, the DRD’s LinkedIn and other senior management social media accounts as when needed.
  • Monitor and analyse online business trends and conversations to identify new spaces for engagement and thought leadership for UNICEF
  • Monitor engagement and performance of UNICEF EAP’s business and high-value donor content on social media platforms, particularly Twitter and LinkedIn, and make recommendations to improve reach and engagement.
  • Oversight of social media campaigns related to UNICEF EAP’s B2B strategy (business and High Value donor outreach).
  • Where relevant, showcasing of events related to Partnership engagement with Corporate and Philanthropists (e.g., campaigns, high level meetings).
  • Participate in the UNICEF digital community of practice and share lessons learned and best practices that are applicable to COs in the region, particularly PSFR countries.
  • Ensure full alignment with the regional communication and advocacy strategy, particularly the regional web strategy, and harness linkages and synergies with other UNICEF owned media primarily used for thought leadership including evidence pieces and blogs by technical experts
  • Analyze comparators and activities based upon identified information and best practices.

1. Assignment: Draft and execute an annual content plan for a business and high-value donor audience as an integral part of the RO’s overarching content plan and in line with the RO’s annual planner.

Expected deliverable 1: Compelling business and high-value donor content to support the expanded reach and engagement across RO social media channels and website.

Delivery schedule: Throughout the contract period.

2. Assignment: Draft and execute content for the RD’s Twitter, DRD’s LinkedIn and other senior management accounts and platforms as the need arises.

Expected deliverable 2: Well managed senior management social media accounts.

Delivery schedule: Throughout the contract period.

3. Assignment: Manage and grow the regional LinkedIn account

Expected deliverable 3: To scale up our regional LinkedIn presence with compelling content and increase followers (to 5,000) and engagement (to 70,000).

Delivery schedule: Throughout the contract period.

Duration of Contract:  January 2024 – December 2024

Duty Travel:  No travel required

 

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

  • Demonstrated experience in social media campaign development in professional settings, preferably in a humanitarian or not-for-profit environment, including but not limited to LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Instagram
  • Demonstrated track record of writing, editing, and crafting compelling and audience informed content for social media
  • Experience in community management
  • Ability to analyze and interpret and act on audience data from Google Analytics and LinkedIn insights
  • Experience with graphic, photo and video design/editing is desired
  • Educated to degree level in Communication related field (e.g., advertising, marketing, journalism, public relations, or similar field)
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
