The role will incorporate programmatic and knowledge management initiatives to advance GenU’s key priorities. S/he will also enhance the range and quality of our programme implementation, information management and communications efforts especially for Girls’ Education Skills Partnership, as well as support to the broader team for various programme meetings and events.

BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:

Under the overall guidance of the Deputy Director Programmes, and direct supervision of the Senior Adviser, Global Solutions, the GenU Knowledge Management Consultant will execute various knowledge management-related deliverables and support in building technical collaborations with key partners. The assignment will help strengthen overall knowledge management support to countries, technical initiatives and partnerships. The role will incorporate programmatic and knowledge management initiatives to advance GenU’s key priorities. S/he will also enhance the range and quality of our programme implementation, information management and communications efforts especially for Girls’ Education Skills Partnership, as well as support to the broader team for various programme meetings and events. 

Scope of Work:

•     Plan and implement both internal and external webinars to support the dissemination of knowledge and insights related to GenU’s programmes, implementation approach, impact areas and cross-cutting themes.

•     Plan and deliver both internal and external communities of practice to support the collection and dissemination of knowledge and insights related to GenU’s programmes, implementation approach, impact areas and cross-cutting themes. This will include documenting the findings of these COPs in learning briefs for publication.

•     Work with programme and technical leads to produce learning agendas, including specific M&E and knowledge production on the Girls’ Education and Skilling Partnership (GESP).

•     Support in mainstreaming youth engagement within GESP programming (including in the delivery of girl-centered participatory action research trainings, as well as supporting young people in the production of knowledge products emerging from this initiative).

•     Support UN-wide programme partner coordination with a specific focus on the ILO and UNESCO

•     Work with key partners to update the Youth Foresight website and deliver events and resources through this knowledge exchange platform.

•     Update knowledge management platforms such as GenU Knowledge Exchange SharePoint site.

•     Draft presentations, briefing notes, report inputs, talking points and read outs for various programme and technical activities of the team, including for partner meetings.

•     Provide support and inputs for internal and external audiences, including presentations, infographics and communications materials – including GenU annual results reporting and GenU Governance meetings such as GenU Global Board meetings and GenU GLobal Leadership Council meetings.

•     Facilitate a process aiming to create a new GenU Global Programme focused on Apprenticeships.

  • Inputs from various areas of GenU are collated, edited and finalized for inclusion in 2 GenU Global Leadership Council meetings and 2 GenU Board meetings.

The pre-read and presentations for two GenU GLC and Board pre-reads are finalized.

Qualifications 

Education:

  • University degree in social science, education, international relations, political science, communications, international development, business administration or other relevant disciplines is required. An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) is considered an asset
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Work experience:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of progressively professional experience at the national and international levels in programme management, international development, and knowledge management is desired.
  • Experience designing and executing knowledge management strategies to support programme improvements.
  • Experience undertaking reporting to support programme and donor acquittal.
  • Experience working in complex environments with multiple stakeholders
  • Prior experience in the field will be considered a strong asset.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

    • Strong IT skills and fluency with Microsoft Office Suites, SharePoint, and other programmes is highly desired.     

 Requirements:

  • Financial proposal that will include/ reflect :
    • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
    • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
    • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
    • Indicate your availability
  • Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
  • At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
  • Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants. Consultants are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
