BACKGROUND

Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

Supportive to the realization of health results in the 2022-25 Strategic Plan, the Health Programme Team is currently implemented its Knowledge Management approach, aligned to the corporate standards, to support the work of the UNICEF Health workforce in regions and country offices. This includes the implementation of: a) the corporate Document Management System for storing and retrieving documents systematically and efficiently across the organization; b) Communication and collaboration sites over the SharePoint portal; c) Knowledge base for papers, research, evaluations, publications; d) database of e-learnings; e) Yammer; and f) Periodic newsletters.

Towards external knowledge management, the consultant will work to (a) provide quarterly updates to DGCA on any changes to content on unicef.org; (b) development and management of select external communication portals, including Knowledge at UNIC hosted by DAPM.

Scope of Work:

1. Strengthen knowledge exchange and communication on both internal and external platforms
2. Streamline access to Health-related information in a systematic and user-friendly way
3. Enhance external visibility and access to knowledge products and Health-related information

5. Improve KM capacity within PG-Health staff community

Qualifications

Education:

• Masters in Communications, journalism, social sciences, public health, international development or related degree.

Work experience:

• A minimum two years of experience in knowledge management, and utilization of specific knowledge management platforms, as well as development of KM guidelines and approaches is required.

Competencies/Knowledge:

• Strong communication skills (written and oral), with track record of writing and editing content for knowledge platforms.
• Previous UNICEF experience and knowledge of UNICEF’s internal applications (Drupal, SharePoint) strongly preferred.
• Highly skilled with Microsoft Office Applications, including SharePoint and Yammer
• Good level of digital literacy and familiarity with digital tools UNICEF uses and available KM resources: Digital tools: Power BI Dashboards, Microsoft 365 apps (Word; Excel; PowerPoint; SharePoint, including collaboration sites; Yammer; Teams; etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working in a multicultural environment.
• Passion and demonstrated commitment to UNICEF’s mission and core values
• Background/familiarity with UNICEF’s Health programme will be an asset.

Language skills:

• Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset

Requirements: 

Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and

• Financial proposal that will include/ reflect:
  • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.

• Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF
• At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage
• Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

U.S. Visa information:

With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract.
