DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the CREWS Pacific SIDS 2.0 project manager,the incumbent will perform the following duties:

• Consultation and requirements gathering to understand the specific needs and preferences.

• Development of a responsive, accessible, user friendly for people living with disabilities and visually appealing website design.

• Content management system (CMS) integration for easy content updates.

• Integration of essential features and functionalities, including but not limited to:
– Contact forms
– Social media links
– E-commerce functionality (if applicable)
– SEO optimization

• Cross-browser compatibility testing to ensure the website works well on all major web browsers.

• Mobile-responsive design to ensure optimal user experience on various devices.

• Website security implementation to protect against potential threats.

• Ongoing technical support and maintenance, as needed.

• Training and documentation to enable RSMC – Nadi staff to manage and update the website.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Higher education in information technology, computer science, including webdesign and related disciplines, is an advantage.
Experience
1. Technical Expertise:
– Demonstrated proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python).
– Proven experience with web development frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Django, Ruby on Rails).
– Database management skills (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL).
2. Industry Experience:
– Familiarity with early warning industry or similar domains can be advantageous. Understands specific challenges and requirements relevant to your meteorological business.
3. Responsive Design Skills:
– Proven ability to create websites that are responsive and provide a seamless user experience across devices.
4. User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) Design:
– Experience in creating visually appealing interfaces with a focus on user experience.
– Knowledge of design principles, accessibility standards, and usability best practices.
5. Content Management Systems (CMS):
– Proficiency in popular CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Drupal) if content management is a requirement.
6. SEO Knowledge:
– Understanding of search engine optimization principles and implementation strategies.
7. Security Practices:
– Demonstrated commitment to implementing robust security measures.
– Familiarity with security best practices, SSL implementation, and data protection.
8. Collaboration and Communication Skills:
– Effective communication and collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
– Ability to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
9. Project Management:
– Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
– Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (both oral and written). Knowledge of other official languages of WMO would be an advantage.
