This consultancy is being established to support the Audience & Market Insights Unit with planning and delivering a multi-country Audience Segmentation program (its different components and associated research stages) for the benefit of PFP Individual Giving (IG).

Specific research projects:
1. Support the project management and delivery of a multi-country Foundational Qualitative Research
2. Assist with the set-up, country coordination, project management and delivery of a multi-country Charity category definition and measurement Quantitative Research piece
3. Support the procurement, set-up, country coordination, project management, delivery and deployment of a multi-country Donor Segmentation

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:
Contribute to the project management of the set-up, delivery and deployment of a multi-country, multi-stage segmentation research programme in close collaboration with, among other stakeholders, HQ teams, Country teams and specialist market research agencies.
Foundational Qualitative Research
– Support the development and delivery of an internal communications plan that coordinates IG, Audience and Market Insights (AMI), country teams and the research agency.
– Coordinate project meetings to ensure delivery of project outputs by stakeholders.
– Monitor the launch, delivery and completion of the fieldwork against timings and scope.
– Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of final project outputs with HQ and country teams.
– Use monthly reporting to ensure all stakeholders are aware of progress, issues and risks.
Charity Category Definition and Measurement
– Liaise with the appointed research agency to set the project up.
– Organize and coordinate input from the countries.
– Monitor the launch and completion of the fieldwork against timings.
– Contribute to the initial analysis of collected data and implications.
– Organize and coordinate the presentation and communication of the findings to PFP teams and participating countries.
Donor Segmentation
– Support AMI to run an effective procurement process to appoint an agency or agencies to act as delivery partners for country segmentations.
– Organize and coordinate input from the countries and manage the ongoing coordination with countries that move to implement a donor segmentation.
– Support and coordinate the delivery of segmentation projects in up to 6 markets, ensuring lessons from the foundational qualitative research and category definition research are well used by markets, and monitoring is in place to ensure the appointed agency is providing a good service for markets.
– Support the development and delivery of an internal communications plan that coordinates IG, AMI, country teams and the research agency.
– Liaise with stakeholders to deliver status reporting, ensuring issues, risks and progress are clear and acted upon when relevant.
Deliverables
Deliverable #1: Internal Communications Plan for all research initiatives – Q1 to Q4 (2024) – 15% of work assignment
– Support the development of an internal communications plan for the project that meets the requirements of the AMI supervisor (first tranche).
– Support the delivery of the agreed plan, ensuring target stakeholders feel communications are clear and timely.
– Review the communications plan before the end of Q2 (second tranche), adapting the plan to improve outcomes for the second half of the year (second tranche).
– Deliver the agreed plan, ensuring target stakeholders feel communications are clear and timely.
Deliverables #2: Foundational Qualitative Research – Q1 and Q2 (2024) – 20% of work assignment
– Produce monthly communications within the project team and for markets to ensure project status is well understood and can be acted upon.
– Monitor the research agency’s work to ensure scope is delivered and the planned outputs are on track for delivery within the approved scope, escalating to AMI supervisor if needed.
– Liaise with 7 participating countries to provide access to HQ support on insight, ensuring markets have access to project information in a timely manner, and are engaged in the project outcomes.
– Virtually attend up to 12 in-depth interviews per country for 4 “phase 2” participating countries, providing feedback to AMI on the progress of the research.
– Support AMI to provide project outputs in a form that best enables action at country level.
Deliverable #3: Charity Category Definition and Measurement – Q2 (2024) – 15% of work assignment
– Collaborate with the AMI supervisor to finalize the research specifications.
– Liaise with the appointed research agency to develop and deliver the fieldwork.
– Organize and coordinate input from the 7 participating countries.
– Monitor the launch and completion of the fieldwork across the 7 countries ensuring timing and scope are delivered.
– Contribute to the initial analysis of collected data producing a report on the implications and proposed recommendations for markets.
– Organize and coordinate the presentation and communication of the findings to PFP teams and participating countries.
Deliverable #4: Donor Segmentation for up to 6 markets – Q3 to Q4 (2024) – 50% of work assignment
– Collaborate with the UNICEF Procurement team, alongside AMI and Individual Giving to develop a roster of agencies that can support implementation of advanced segmentation solutions from 2024 onwards.
– Support the onboarding of recruited agencies ensuring they are clear on UNICEF goal and are motivated and excited to be working on segmentation with country teams.
– In collaboration with other HQ teams, assist with securing market commitment to segmentation.
– Coordinate with markets to run assessment of the best segmentation approach given the market capability and support the delivery of segmentation in up to 6 of those markets during the period.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Education:

• University degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Marketing, Media, Communications, Market Research, or any other related fields is required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in Marketing, Market Research, Communications.

• Experience project management and coordination, in a “Marketing, Communications or Market Research” context is required.

• Experience in working in complex multi-stakeholders and international context is a strong asset.

• Previous experience in qualitative research, quantitative research and consumer segmentation, is a strong asset.

• Prior experience in Private Sector engagement in International Non-profit Organizations / UN organizations is desirable.

Language:

Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:  

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees in USD against the deliverables listed above. If there is a need for business travel, the travel costs will be covered by UNICEF separately. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
