Emma’s program is focused on the following:

  • Capacity building and awareness-raising of governmental and nongovernmental human resources in the field of GBV.
  • Awareness-raising on gender equality and human rights issues.
  • Enhancing women’s participation in decision-making and peace building.
  • Rehabilitation and trauma healing programs for trauma survivors.

Since June 2014, Emma has mainly been working with IDPs, specifically Yazidi women survivors of conflict-related to SGBV.

 

The Topic of the mission is (Developing feminist-based approach policy on climate change and environment protection for the Kurdistan region of Iraq).

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • The consultant will be in charge of developing an assessment regarding the environment protection by gathering information, addressing environment protection from gender perspective, documenting crucial points, and presenting an accurate assessment
  • Design and develop identifying the progress and the challenges in the targeted Government ministries and institutions (ministry of agriculture, Environment Borad, turismo and travelling board )
  • Indicating to the mechanisms to overcome on the obstacles that prevent to not achieving gender equality inside the institutions.
  • Carry out recommendations to understand the status of environment protection in the target institutions.
  • Offering ongoing professional development and support to the government institutions staff and other professionals working in this field.
  • Presenting the findings of the assessment to the related authorities.
  • Conducting one day workshop for the targeted government institutions to address the importance of developing a n environment protection policy and what should it consisted on.
  • Writing the policy of the environment protection

The expected deliverable is: –

  • An assessment with information on various initiatives related to environment protection in the targeted institutions showing the situations/status of the environment protection in the institutions.
  • A list of resources reviewed.

Duration of Assignment:

  The duration of the assignment is expected to be 40 working days from contract signature date.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in environment specialist or social work or related field (Board degree or D. / Master’s degree is preferable)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a relevant field.
  • Fluent in Kurdish and having English and Arabic languages are advantageous and may contribute to the candidate’s overall suitability for the position.
  • Belief in human rights including gender equality.
  • Good communication skills including the ability to gain trust and build relationships with new
  • Due to the sensitivity female specialist is preferable
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and encourage individuals.
