This role is being established to increase the Audience and Market Insights (AMI) unit’s capacity to provide reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries for an increasing number of markets and new projects.
Four main areas have been identified:
1. Income Analysis and Benchmarking: identify growth opportunities by supporting the Peer Review, one of the AMI flagship products by producing 55 customized individual country reports where UNICEF fundraises.
2. Competitive Analysis: inspire PFP colleagues by spotting and tracking competitors’ successful campaigns or activities.
3. Partnerships: maximize the current partners donation by identifying shared values and sweet spots for further partnership.
4. Tools and database: produce Power BI dashboards and reports for the new Peer Review to allow AMI to produce the country Peer Review.

How can you make a difference?

Scope of Work:

Working under the supervision of the Market Research Manager, the Market Research consultant will be responsible for:
1. Working with the supplier of the INGO financial data (Adroit) to produce the Peer Review which is a summary of income performance across 17 INGOs. This report places UNICEF results in a competitor context and enables Fundraising leadership internationally, regionally, and at market level to understand their relative fundraising performance across channels and markets. Support the Market Research Manager in their presentation with markets, globally and regionally. The consultant will also help design the agenda for the Global Insights Day, take notes and build knowledge on UNICEF’s peers.
2. Supporting the Market Research Manager in their presentation with markets, globally and regionally to inform all PFP colleagues and markets about where growth has occurred (intra and inter benchmarking reports).
3. Supporting the Market Research Manager in their presentation with markets, globally and regionally to inform all PFP colleagues and markets about where growth happened by providing examples from competitors.
4. Supporting AMI in producing the Power BI dashboards and reports for the Peer Review (scripts).

Work Assignments Overview & Deliverables

Deliverable 1, By 30th of April 2024 and 2025 

Develop the Peer Review reports templates, harmonise, and consolidate the PSFR data

PowerPoint templates and consolidated data in Excel sheets

KPIs:

1) Developed Market, Regional and Global Peer Review reports, in terms of size, design, and format.
2) Receive and consolidate the income data from Finance, both the PSFR income and Public Funds from PPD.

Deliverable 2, By 31st of May 2024 and 2025 

Finalize the data templates, audits, reviews, and submission.
Executive summary to the leadership

KPIs:

1) Auditing and submitting the data template on time to Adroit, including outliers.
2) Share with the leadership an Executive Summary on UNICEF’s income in the top 20 PSFR markets.

Deliverable 3, By 15th of August 2024 and 2025 

Build the PowerBI for the Global, Regional, Market report

5 PowerBI Files (*.pbix file) for the Peer Review

KPIs:

1) high quality charts and engaging data visualization as defined in the technical brief (previous year report). Charts must incorporate at Global, Regional and market level

2) Five Pbix files are Global PowerBI, Market PowerBI, Annex PowerBI, Regional PowerBi, Dashboard PowerBi.

Deliverable 4, By 05th of October 2024 and 2025 

Produce the Peer Review reports, schedule and plan the markets

3 PowerPoint analysis report (*.ppt file) for the Peer Review Global Report, 2 for the regional reports, 55 for the Market reports

KPIs:

1) high quality charts and comments in PowerPoint and engaging data visualization as defined in the technical brief (previous year report). Charts must incorporate at global, Regional and Market level

2) the benchmark between Peers for 2022 vs 2021.

3) the breakdown into income streams.

4) number of donors and the relative position of UNICEF vs its Peers in all charts.

5) Schedule and plan the markets in alignment with the Market Development Unit.

Deliverable 5, By 15th of November 2024 and 2025 

Competitive analysis

Attending the Global Insights Day with the IFL Group. Review Fundraising results of the most important organizations (Red Cross, MSF, etc.)

Produce deep dive analysis, Best-in-Class, and Bright spots identification in main fundraising income streams. This will inform all PFP colleagues and markets about where growth has occurred. Deliverables are Excel tables.

KPIs:

1) Peers and Markets are covered based on the need of the PFP colleagues.

2) all measures are benchmarked in the current year and the last five years.

Deliverable 6, By 28th of February 2025 and 31st March 2026  

Preparation for the new Peer Review cycle   Reviewing the previous cycle, meetings for getting feedback.
Brainstorming and Planning meetings for the new Peer Review cycle and start liaising with Adroit.

KPIs:

  1. high quality charts and comments in PowerPoint and engaging data visualization as defined in the technical brief (previous year report). Charts must incorporate at market level
  2. the benchmark between Peers for 2022 vs 2021,
  3. 2022 vs 2018 (5 years CAGR),
  4. the breakdown into income streams,
  5. the evolution of income and 6) number of donors and the relative position of UNICEF vs its Peers in all charts.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:
• A first level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher), in marketing or Business administration, or another relevant field is required.

Experience:
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant professional work experience in marketing and data analysis with Excel and Power BI in Market Research areas, or other related fields.
• Prior experience in market research or monitoring for a non-profit organization is highly desirable.
• Strong experience in data analysis and turning data into insights (Market Insights) is required.
• Strong command of Excel and Power BI, (Market Measurements) is required.
• Experience in building dashboards with business intelligence tools is an asset.
• Experience in the area of partnerships and sponsorship is desirable.
• Some experience in desk research, monitoring companies/organizations’ best practices by industry sector (Market Intelligence) is an asset.
• Experience working in an international environment is an asset.

Language:
• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an asset

Remarks: 

Please indicate your all-inclusive (lump sum) fees against the deliverables listed above, including all associated administrative and travel costs (if applicable), in the cover letter. The office selects the individual based on best value for money.
Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
