OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST
Background
The Cultural Policies and Development Entity (CLT/CPD) of the UNESCO Culture Sector is notably tasked with (i) providing technical assistance to UNESCO Member States in the design, adaptation and implementation of their cultural policies and their development strategies; (ii) fostering international dialogue on cultural policies, in the context of the follow-up to the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies – MONDIACULT held in Mexico in September 2022 and in the run up to the next edition of the MONDIACULT Conference planned to be hosted in Barcelona in September 2025; (iii) supporting the advocacy on culture for sustainable within and beyond the UN system, including through the implementation of the Interagency Platform on Culture for Sustainable Development – a community of practice bringing together 30 UN agencies, regional intergovernmental organizations and development banks to advance the role of culture for sustainable development.
In the run-up to the 2025 MONDIACULT Conference, a series of regional consultations will be implemented in all five regional groups to map priorities and recommendations of Member States and other stakeholders at the regional level and inform the preparation of the Conference. The regional consultations are also intended to capture developments at the national and regional level in the implementation of the Ministerial Declaration of the MONDIACULT 2022 Conference, particularly its core areas of policy engagement – including as regards protecting and promoting cultural rights, harnessing culture for climate action, ensuring an inclusive digital transformation in the cultural sector, notably in relation to artificial intelligence, sustaining the economics of culture, protecting cultural heritage in the face of multiple crises, including by combating the illicit trafficking of cultural goods, and enhancing synergies between culture and education.

In that framework, under the authority of the Director of Cultural Policies and Development, and the direct supervision of the Programme Specialist, the incumbent shall be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Contribute to the coordination of the regional multistakeholder consultation process intended to map regional priorities in the field of culture in the run up to the UNESCO MONDIACULT 2025 Conference between October and December 2024, particularly through the preparation and implementation of five online regional consultation meetings in all five regions, organized together with relevant UNESCO field offices, notably by:
