The Fundraising Consultant will be responsible for developing and executing a fundraising strategy to support the sustain phase of the Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), working closely with key stakeholders within World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia. The consultant will focus on securing funds to support the continuation and expansion of plastic waste management programs, with specific emphasis on mobilizing resources for the next phase of NPAP in 2026. Additionally, the consultant will work with WRI Indonesia’s operations team to establish operational mechanisms capable of accommodating various donors, including a multi-donor funding scheme.
What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with all relevant teams to develop fundraising strategies aligned with the organization and project’s mission
- Assess current fundraising efforts, identify areas of improvement, and recommend new and suitable approaches
- Conduct research to identify potential donors and support the team in arranging influential meeting, leading meeting preparations, and reporting on the relationship-building efforts
- Research and identify grant opportunity, including assessing trends to stay competitive in a dynamic landscape.
- Lead the development of proposal, and reports tailored to funder’s priorities and interests
- Work closely with the program team to develop impactful narrative and data-driven reports
- Participate in institutional efforts to enhance relationships with current donors
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, business, or relevant field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 8 (eight) years of external fundraising experience, preferably in a large, international organization. Prior engagement on environmental or climate/oceans/cities/forests/energy focus areas are desirable.
- Proven track record of directly participating in collaborative efforts to successfully securing grants from foundations, foreign governments, or multi-lateral organizations.
- Good writing and proofreading skills; ability to translate technical information into lay language; experience in developing and organizing draft proposals for varying audiences.
- Familiarity with the Indonesian environmental landscape, including relevant policies, stakeholders, and funding opportunities.
- Professional-level understanding of project management and best practices for donor relationship management.
- Basic understanding in PMEL standard and theory of change
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; a demonstrated ability to diplomatically and effectively to collaborate internally to deliver results.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey the organization’s mission and impact to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, and be flexible on changing priorities.
- Experience working in an international team environment a plus; must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with a diverse staff, across multiple time zones, and within tight and often parallel deadlines.
- Understanding of compliance requirements of Indonesia’s NGO law in relation to fundraising activities.
- Proficiency in English and Indonesian languages, both written and verbal.
- Ability to travel when needed
- High attention to details, well organized, and strong analytical skills.
Qualifications:
- Passionate about addressing plastic waste, ocean, and environmental management issues and experienced in working with multistakeholder platforms.
- Capacities in making use of data and information
- Ability to design presentations/decks is preferred.
