BACKGROUND
Purpose of Activity/ Assignment:
UNICEF continues to support government and partners to improve the nutritional status of women and children globally. Through UNICEF’s leadership and support countries can implement and monitor progress of nutrition programmes aimed at improving the nutritional status of women and children. UNICEF’s Nutrition Dashboard (“NutriDash”) was developed in 2013, the system was designed to capture data on global nutrition programmes. This web-based system has supported UNICEF at the global regional and country levels to capture data for decision making, resource mobilization supply forecasting and programme planning, as well as reporting on UNICEF’s Strategic plan.
NutriDash captures key data on programme actions that monitor the progress of UNICEF programmes in countries. It supports output monitoring and reporting while encouraging the strengthening of national nutrition information systems. UNICEF is seeking a highly motivated individual support the NutriDash system key backend functionalities- coding of questionnaires, system related activities for data capture, analysis, database management and data visualization.
Scope of Work:
Specifically, the individual will be expected to: –
- Code the finalized questionnaires into the NutriDash system and ensure the appropriate quality checks are included for the modules in the system.
- Database management- ensure data sets are cleaned, organized and updated on the NutriDash site, this will also support preliminary data analysis on nutrition data sets for reporting for SP, donor reports and data requests by partners etc.
- Support thematic analysis of NutriDash data for early childhood nutrition programmes and governance for nutrition
- Support NutriDash data visualization and support knowledge management of NutriDash SharePoint page. Update NutriDash data visualization dashboards for both internal and external users.
Finalize coding of questionnaires into the NutriDash system, including with data quality checks.
Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables:

- 18 Finalized PDF Questionnaires for global survey updated as modules in NutriDash for data collection completed – By Q1 2024
- 10 regional PDF Questionnaires for regional survey updated as modules in NutriDash for data collection completed – By Q1 2025
- Support the quality assurance and data analysis process by downloading data, checking response rates and providing feedback to countries.
- All 7 regions country data downloaded and shared with regional team focal points for review. – By Q2 2024
- 3 regional progress reports downloaded for all 7 regions and shared with regional focal points – By Q2 2025
- Database management- ensure data sets are cleaned, organized and updated on the NutriDash site, this will also support preliminary data analysis on nutrition data sets for reporting for SP, donor reports and data requests by partners etc.
- 5 finalized databases for all nutrition modules finalized in excel format and available on NutriDash SharePoint page – By Q3 2024
- 1 final database with SP indicators for nutrition finalized in excel format and submitted to nutrition data focal point – By Q3 2025
- Support thematic analysis of NutriDash data for early childhood nutrition programmes and governance for nutrition
- 1 consolidated micronutrient database from NutriDash with micronutrient data for early childhood nutrition from 2013 to date finalized and submitted – By Q4 2024
- Trend analysis report for indicators on early childhood nutrition or other nutrition programme finalized and submitted. Analysis will include excel files, generated data tables and estimates. – By Q4 2025
- Support NutriDash data visualization and support knowledge management of NutriDash SharePoint page
- Update annual data in NutriDash dashboard – By Q4 2024
- Update monthly data for regional NutriDash boards
- Upload 2023 NutriDash excel databases into NutriDash share point page – By Q5 2025
- Finalize coding of questionnaires into the NutriDash system, including with data quality checks for data collection.

Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, statistics, actuarial science etc. or a relevant field
Work experience:
- Minimum 5 years of mid-level experience of working in relevant field. Specifically experience with advanced excel database management, R and MySQL databases, experience on SAML2.0 user identity management Front end design experience including UX design, Query are an added advantage.
- Proven IT and analysis skills using various statistical data packages e.g., R, BBA (macros and data analytics in excel), SQL and PowerBi or other visualization software
- Experience in developing humanitarian and development programme information systems
- Knowledge of nutrition humanitarian and development programming and indicators preferable
- Experience in working with UNICEF preferable
- Familiarity and experience with the Microsoft Azure platform highly desirable
Requirements:
Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and

- Financial proposal that will include/ reflect:
- the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
- travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
- Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
- Indicate your availability
- Any emergent / unforeseen duty travel and related expenses will be covered by UNICEF.
- At the time the contract is awarded, the selected candidate must have in place current health insurance coverage.
- Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.
U.S. Visa information:
With the exception of the US Citizens, G4 Visa and Green Card holders, should the selected candidate and his/her household members reside in the United States under a different visa, the consultant and his/her household members are required to change their visa status to G4, and the consultant’s household members (spouse) will require an Employment Authorization Card (EAD) to be able to work, even if he/she was authorized to work under the visa held prior to switching to G4.
