The team

The insight & evaluation team is integral to the data, research and content the Energy
Saving Trust produces. The work the team does is hugely varied from calculating the savings
that can be achieved through making energy efficiency changes, to modelling the impact of new
technologies to providing content for energy efficiency training to researching consumers
attitudes towards government policy and assessing the impact that programmes deliver.

The team work individually on projects but also work closely together sharing ideas and working
through complex problems or scenarios ensuring that knowledge sharing, and knowledge
development is at the forefront of everything we do.

Working within the team and at the Energy Saving Trust more broadly will allow you to use your
experience and skills, whilst improving your knowledge and having the space and opportunity to
grow within a friendly, supportive team.

The role 

  • The consultant role sits within Energy Saving Trust’s Insight and Evaluation team, reporting
    into a Senior consultant – research and evaluation.
  •  In this role you have the opportunity to collate and analyse data to inform policy
    recommendations in line with our mission to address the climate emergency.
  • You will have a chance to work with a team with more than 20+ years of experience of research
    and evaluation.
  • With an expanding area of work, this is an opportunity to join a fast-paced team to use
    existing skills and develop new knowledge working on varied evaluation and research projects. 

What you’ll do 

  • With experience of research and evaluation techniques, you will support the delivery of
    projects to provide evidence to identify and quantify emission savings and recommendations for
    programme improvements.
  • You will conduct primary research including qualitative telephone interviews, facilitate
    focus groups and administer online surveys.
  • You will be involved in secondary data collection, as well as conducting analysis of both
    qualitative and quantitative data. Using this analysis, you will prepare reports for internal
    and external purposes.
  • Your ability to plan and prioritise work is essential in this busy environment, along with
    demonstrated effective communication skills enabling you to deliver a high standard of customer
    service to people at different levels.

What you’ll bring 

  • Understanding of social research and evaluation techniques.
  • Experience of conducting telephone interviews and focus group moderation.
  • Experience of managing research and evaluation projects.
  • Experience of producing high quality research and evaluation reports for funders and
    internal stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people at different levels and
    locations.
