The IDB promotes advances in gender and diversity equity in Latin America and the Caribbean by enhancing data availability and quality. Recognizing the pivotal role of accurate data in policymaking, the IDB focuses on promoting the production and dissemination of high-quality information on gender and diverse population groups. A key strategy involves the creation of an initiative to encourage collaboration among national statistical offices, fostering the exchange of best practices. Through these efforts, the IDB aims to empower informed decision-making for a more equitable future.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, innovative, independent, enthusiastic, and proactive consultant. As an IDB consultant, you will support the efforts to facilitate knowledge sharing and the documentation and dissemination of experiences in data collection with the goal of increasing the institutional capacity of National Statistics Offices in the production and dissemination of data related to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and sexual characteristics (SOGIESC).
You will work in the Gender and Diversity Division (GDI) part of the Social Sector (SCL). The team mission is to promote: (a) gender equality and empowerment, (b) development with identity of indigenous peoples, and (c) the inclusion of African descendants, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. It supports Bank operations, provides policy and strategic guidance, and carries out technical assistance and training.
What you’ll do:
  • Support the implementation of an international initiative to facilitate knowledge exchange among experts about the production and dissemination of data related to ethnicity, race, and people with diverse SOGIESC.
  • Support the preparation of online seminars, forums, and workshops to share knowledge and experiences among the National Statistics Offices.
  • Coordinate the logistics associated with the initiative including administering the technological platform, managing membership, technical support, documentation, and knowledge management.
  • Support the development of knowledge products, communications, and outreach strategies to capture and share the initiative’s results.
  • Monitoring and reporting the progress of the initiative.
  • Curate and share relevant content, resources, and best practices.
  • Provide analytical, administrative, and management support to knowledge products related to the production and dissemination of data about diverse population groups.
What you’ll need:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree) in public policy, economics, data science, international development, social policy, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
Experience:
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in public policy and statistics, experience working with National Statistics Offices and/or managing communities of practice is required
Languages:
  • Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable
