Consultant VI-Socio-Anthropology Study on the Onset of Malnutrition

tendersglobal.net

The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct a socio-anthropology study on the onset of malnutrition according to the sex of the child.

The study  is divided into several stages which the consultant selected must follow:
  1. Identifying the population to be interviewed: this is an essential stage in the research, as it determines the size of sample, the time needed to collect data, the type of interviews and the number of questionnaires to be developed. This stage will be carried out in close collaboration with the project teams.
  2. Sample size: a scientific method of calculating sample size will be used to determine who will be included in the study. For sample selection, two-stage cluster random sampling will be proposed to extrapolate the survey results to the total population.
  3. Organising and defining the content of the protocol: the study protocol sets out the various stages through which the study will have to pass and defines who is to be studied, what and how, and when and where the survey will be carried out. The protocol must explain the purpose of the study clearly and concisely. The protocol is an essential tool for structuring and organising the study. The protocol must include a detailed work plan as well as the budget and logistics required to set up the survey.
  4. Design the questionnaire and carry out a pre-test with a small number of people targeted by the survey in order to identify design flaws and make adjustments. This test also allows all the elements of the survey to be put to the test (logistics, finance, questionnaire, interviewer training, data entry and analysis).
  5. Set up the survey: once the period has been identified, supervisors and interviewers should be recruited, trained and given as much practice as possible in administering the questionnaire. Once the survey has started in the field, it is essential to ensure the quality of the data and to review all the questionnaires at the end of each day.
  6. Analysing the data: the first step is to enter and « clean » the data. Ideally, the survey should be carried out using Kobo Collect software to avoid secondary data entry bias. Next, analyse and interpret the data.
  7. Elaboration of  the study report
  8. Restitution  of the results of the study : organization a presentation  of the main results of the study  to stakeholders
