Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Environmental Justice Australia is a national public interest legal organisation, using the law for a safe climate, environmental justice, nature protection, First Nations justice – and a radically better world.

We’re looking for a digital content producer to create engaging social media and web content that speaks to the environmental and justice issues we seek to solve, the court cases and legal interventions we run, and the communities we serve.

ABOUT YOU

This role will suit a creative digital storyteller with experience writing, developing, editing and producing content across a range of platforms.

You’re a fast learner with strong written and visual communication skills and a flair for creating thumb-stopping content. You have a deep understanding of social media trends and platforms, and solid copywriting, graphic design and video skills.

You’re a creative problem solver, in your element working in a fast-moving environment with several different balls in the air.

You may have worked, trained or volunteered in a digital media, communication, campaign or marketing role. But even if you don’t meet all of the selection criteria, if you have social media and digital communication skills, you’re hungry to learn and passionate about climate and environmental justice, we’d love to hear from you.

THE ROLE

This three-day-a-week, 12 month position sits in EJA’s collaborative and multidisciplinary Engagement Team, creating content across our program areas.

Environmental Justice Australia is an equal opportunity employer. We recognise structural barriers like racism, ableism, classism, homophobia and sexism impact opportunities to gain paid experience, so we also value your broader skills and knowledge. We especially encourage First Nations, people of colour, LGBTQI+ people, neurodivergent folks and those living with disabilities to apply.

SALARY: The salary band for this grade 3 role is $76,115 to $83,140 pro rata (meaning $45,669 to $49,884 for 3 daysper week), plus superannuation and leave loading, depending on experience. Terms and conditions of employment are based on the SCHADS award with over-agreement salary and conditions.

LOCATION: EJA’s head office is in Melbourne, but for the right candidate who is prepared to travel occasionally, we will consider other locations in Australia.

ABOUT US

Environmental Justice Australia is a national public interest legal organisation. We use the law to protect nature and safeguard our climate. We support First Nations people fighting for Country and Culture. We empower communities to put justice at the heart of this continent.

We run landmark court cases and legal interventions to hold power to account. To compel governments to act. To transform industries. To win environmental justice – and create a radically better world.

For more than 30 years, we’ve been fighting for environmental justice. We have a strong track record and some incredible successes inside and outside the courtroom for the people, places and wildlife we love.

We are proudly non-profit, non-government, and funded by donations from the community.

Read more about what we do and how we do it at www.envirojustice.org.au/work-with-us.

OUR VALUES

Collaboration: We work in partnership with community and other organisations because we are in this together.

Respect: We treat everyone with respect and we value different perspectives as we know we can learn something from everyone.

Ambition: We aim high and are at all times focused on achieving maximum impact for nature, climate and communities.

Positivity: We maintain hope and a positive approach because we believe we can change the world.

Justice: We are driven by our sense of justice – it’s at the core of everything we do.
