University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) is currently seeking a Contract Clinical Coordinator (Clinic Coordinator) to join the School of Medicine, Department of Diagnostic Radiology. The selected candidate will greet clinical and research patients, prepare patients for imaging studies, as well as coordinating the operations of clinical and research services at the Center for Translational Research in Imaging (CTRIM).

PRIMARY DUTIES:

1. Greet patients and research participants at the reception desk for CTRIM. Prepare patients or research participants for imaging studies (e.g., fill out paperwork or screening forms, change into appropriate clothing for the imaging studies, notify technical or research team that the patients or the participants have arrived, etc.).

2. Participates in the identification of issues and problems regarding clinic policies and procedures. Assists in the development and implementation of solutions.

3. Responds to inquiries, orally or in writing, about clinic services and research studies by directing the inquirer to appropriate person(s) responsible for the services or studies.

4. May supervise staff, as well as orient staff including allied health students and medical residents on clinic operations at HSF III.

5. Coordinates scheduling of appointments for imaging, consultation, evaluation, testing, or other services.

6. Assists in the processing of research billing or invoices as instructed. Assists in resolving clinical billing and insurance problems.

7. Maintains clinic, and research database. Generates statistical reports on a variety of clinic-related activities.

8. Assists in developing brochures, handouts, and other educational or informational materials.

9. Requisitions and maintains inventory of supplies. Coordinates facility maintenance and equipment repair if needed or as instructed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: Five years performing a full range of clerical support services to include one year coordination work and one year in a medical setting. Comprehensive knowledge of the theory, principles, techniques and practices of the specialty are required. Experience with blood draw procedure (phlebotomy) preferred.

OTHER: Associate or bachelor’s degree are counted toward years of experience.

Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of basic medical terminology related to clinical practices or medical research. Ability to perform basic mathematics and arithmetic. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, staff, and clients. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to use computers, with basic knowledge of Office software (e.g., Word and Excel), and other standard office equipment. General knowledge of and ability to comply with confidentiality of records and communications regarding patients/clients. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.

Based on the duties of this position, selected candidates are not eligible to participate in the Bargaining Unit (Union).

Salary Range: $48,000 – $55,000 per year (Commensurate with education and experience)
