Position Overview:
The Controller is a newly created position and is responsible
for managing the day-to-day accounting for HLF’s financial
transactions, as well as the preparation of financial statements,
various financial reports and analyses, and tax filings. The
Controller also plays an important role in implementing and
ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities include:
General Accounting and Reporting
- Partners with CFO in preparing financial analyses and drafting
the annual financial statements as well as developing accounting
standards, policies, internal processes, and reports. - Managing the day-to-day operations of the finance department,
including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and
general ledger accounting as well as HLF’s outsourced Information
Technology provider
Audit, Tax, Compliance
- Manages the annual audit process, including coordinating with
external auditors, preparing audit schedules, and ensuring
compliance with all audit requirements.
- Reviews various Federal and foreign tax forms and filings
(e.g., 990PF, 990T, Form 5500, Form 1099, etc.) and gathers
information needed by the outside accounting firm. Assists in the
review, preparation and filing of state tax returns. Schedules and
manages Federal and state estimated tax payments on a quarterly (or
as needed) basis.
Budgeting and Planning
Plays a leading role in the compilation of the annual operating
budget. Supports the CFO in budget management by tracking,
analyzing, and providing commentary on budget/forecast changes;
preparing reports and analysis needed for annual financial
budget.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates have a minimum of 5 years of accounting and
management experience required, preferably in a non-profit or
philanthropic environment; public accounting and management
experience preferred. Experience with accounting for restricted
funds a plus. Master’s degree in accounting or finance and CPA
credentials are required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $160,000 -$180,000.
