Position description

The position holder will report to Senior Dietician and will perform cooking, distribution and cleaning works, maintain kitchen logistics and food hygiene with the objective of providing support to the hospital for effective service delivery in terms of food preparation and distribution for patients, caregivers, and hospitals staff within the guidelines of the standard cooking procedures. The specific areas of responsibilities are detailed below:

• Distribute and deliver diet to the patients according to the requisition;
• Prepare specific diet (therapeutic diet i.e: milk-suzi, infant formula), tea etc;
• Prepare food following health and hygiene standards, keep work area and kitchen equipment clean and tidy and maintain consistent high level of services;
• Maintain adequate stock levels of food materials;
• Receive raw ingredients from the store or vendor as per instruction of duty dietitian;
• Keep records of the used/ leftover food materials;
• Remain compliant with all healthy and safety work practices;
• Ensure full co-operation with all the hospital staff members;
• Coordinate with attendants and other cooks for the smooth functioning of the hospital kitchen

Required qualifications and experience:

• SSC or equivalent;
• Minimum 3 years of experience of cooking in a health facility;
• Having a Certificate of Professional Catering course will be an added advantage.

Location:Dhaka

Contract Type and duration:

Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 11 months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 26,583 (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
