UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) is the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’s global policy center mandated to leverage the role of the private sector in development. The ICPSD was established in Istanbul based on the Partnership Framework Agreement signed between the Government of Türkiye and the UNDP in 2011. The Center supports UNDP’s global work on the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and multi stakeholder-partnerships. UNDP ICPSD provides various advisory, technical assistance and capacity development services to UNDP Country Offices, government bodies and private sector organizations.
It is one of the five global thematic policy centers of UNDP, advocating and facilitating the contribution of the private sector to human development and inclusive growth through the following thematic priority areas:
– Private Sector Engagement through South-South Cooperation for the SDGs
– Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development
– Impact Investing
– Resilience and Crisis Response
Building on the complementing principles of Islamic finance and impact investing, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform (GIFIIP) was established jointly by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and UNDP Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (ICPSD) in 2016, to create a promising avenue supporting the implementation of Agenda 2030. Engaging the private sector, governments, and key stakeholders operating in the Islamic finance and impact investing markets; the Platform aims to promote market-based solutions to sustainable development challenges by fostering linkages, policy dialogue and advocacy. GIFIIP envisions positioning Islamic finance and impact investing as a leading enabler of global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation through private sector engagement. The Platform strategizes to foster a thriving Islamic finance and impact investing business ecosystem by creating a collaborative working space among these actors and serves as a knowledge hub for capacity development initiatives.
A previously completed ICPSD project, the MOOC “Islamic Finance for the Sustainable Development Goals”, is a good example of the product that will be created at the end of this project. https://gifiip.org/service/massive-open-online-course/. As in MOOC, the Online Course learning content material will involve video lectures and interactive teaching tools. It is planned to be ready for publication in the fourth quarter of 2024, aiming to reach a broad base of audience from Islamic finance and development sectors.
The Online Course will consist of five modules with 20-30 minutes of video lecture each, as well as interactive teaching tools. The video lecture content will be developed in a few steps including the writing of the tailored narratives by the subject matter expert, reviews and approvals by the relevant project stakeholders, quality assurance clearance, and text to speech arrangements resulting in speech scripts (Content Development Stage 1). The speech scripts will then be spoken/presented by the course instructors in the video lectures which will be developed through a video recording and post-production stage (Content Development Stage 2). Both the subject matter expert and the course instructors will be identified/appointed by the ICPSD Islamic finance portfolio. The project management is expected to engage one subject matter expert and five course instructors.
UNDP ICPSD is seeking a Project Coordinator as an Individual Consultant (IC – the Consultant) to be responsible for the coordination of the Online Course project. The Consultant is expected to complete the Content Development Stage 1, and make the required arrangements for the project to be ready to move to Content Development Stage 2.
