Coordination of Movilization and Welcoming Communities

Mission
The Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the Mobilization and Welcoming Communities Program through its three components: the Network of Allied Universities, the Network of Student Committees, and the Council of Refugee Students, in order to promote policies that foster the inclusion and respect for the rights of refugees, migrants, and returnees in the Latin American and Caribbean region.

The Coordinator must propose and develop strategies for the promotion and advocacy of the rights of refugees, migrants, and returnees in the region, as well as represent the organization before higher education institutions, think tanks, and relevant forums.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Monitoring:

  • Research on policies, practices, legal instruments, and international treaties that promote the rights of refugees, migrants, and returnees to define the program’s advocacy objectives.
  • Monitor the context and situation of migrant populations in the region to generate relevant reports for the headquarters in Mexico and the US on priority situations requiring the organization’s attention.
  • In coordination with higher education institutions in the region, promote the study and analysis of the situation of migrant populations in the region.

Organization:

  • Coordinate, consolidate, and follow up on the activities of the three Welcoming Communities projects.
  • Supervise and organize events within each program, such as the University Committees’ Council, Leadership Meetings, Intercultural Mobility Week, monitoring visits, and high-level visits, as well as those required by the Programs Coordination.
  • Review and follow up on each donor’s budgets for the execution of activities.
  • Plan mission trips to expand and consolidate the network of Allied Universities and Student Committees, as well as other events necessary for the execution of the projects.
  • Hold regular meetings with national and international focal points related to the program’s projects.
  • Draft concept notes, budgets, and necessary instruments for the proper execution of the events.

Communication:

  • Communicate with the focal points of university authorities for the management of agreements, follow-up, and updating of collaborative projects.
  • Draft and develop concept notes on various events and proposals necessary for each project, as well as the program’s annual strategies.
  • Compile all evidence of activities involving the three projects in progressive, semi-annual, and annual reports in English.
  • Represent USCRI Mexico in events and/or participations as requested.
  • Establish regular follow-up meetings with the program officers assigned to each project.
  • Develop networks with academic authorities, government, civil associations, press, activists, and key agents for the functioning of each project.
  • Draft and compile progressive area and subarea reports, as well as reports on each event carried out in the program.

Training:

  • Conduct and update general program presentations and workshops.
  • Develop and update internal work manuals and instruments for the area.

Teamwork:

  • Attend and follow up on area and coordination meetings to fulfill individual or joint tasks.
  • Maintain constant communication with the corresponding areas for project execution, such as Administration and Finance, Strategic Development, Educational Program, and Habesha Media.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, or related fields.
  • Desirable Master’s degree in migration, International Cooperation, Human Rights, International Relations, or related fields.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years of experience in coordination positions, project leadership in civil organizations, international organizations, human rights organizations, and/or universities.
  • Experience in development, execution, and follow-up of projects.
  • Experience in event organization, budget management, and migration topics.
  • Experience in creating, developing, and maintaining public and institutional relationships.

Languages

  • Native Spanish or, in the case of foreigners, excellent proficiency in Spanish certified in oral, written, and reading comprehension.
  • Proven proficiency in English with some type of certification. (TOEFL IBT Score 100 or PBT Score 500, Cambridge First Certificate).

Job Offer Conditions

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Salary Range: $24,000 Mexican pesos net per month
  • Initial one-month trial period.
  • 4 weeks of vacation per year worked plus official holidays.
