About the Program

HIPPY (Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters) is an early childhood enrichment and parenting program for children and their parents/carers designed to make children ‘school ready’ and develop a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.

About the Opportunity

As the Coordinator you will empower staff and collaborate with stakeholders to champion bi-cultural child development and family support practices that celebrate and honour language and culture. Your program delivery will be dynamic and aligned with essential contract requirements, including the transformative Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) and the East Arnhem Community for Children (EA C4C) initiatives, along with engaging programs like Play and Learn Support (PALS) Playgroup.

As a key partner in delivering the HIPPY program in Yurrwi (Milingimbi), you’ll share invaluable knowledge and insights, guiding your team to provide effective home tutoring and deliver essential books and educational resources. Your efforts will empower parents to improve their children’s school readiness, making a profound difference for families experiencing disadvantage.

Central to this role is a genuine commitment to working inclusively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities. You’ll possess the sensitivity and insight to address issues affecting these communities, fostering meaningful engagement and communication.

NOTE: This position is based in Darwin however requires the flexibility to travel remotely to Yurrwi (Milingimbi) on a three weekly basis and as required.

This is an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified role and is open to all people to demonstrate cultural competency. Candidates must have an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven culturally appropriate engagement and communication skills.
