Are you ready to play a pivotal role in shaping safer, stronger communities in the heart of Australia?
Look no further than the MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC), where we’re searching for a dedicated Coordinator of Community Safety to join our dynamic team.
At MRC, we’re deeply committed to preserving and celebrating the vibrant Aboriginal culture that defines our communities, with 78% of our workforce proudly Aboriginal.
As a Coordinator of Community Safety, you’ll find yourself at the forefront of ensuring the well-being of our communities. Based in Alice Springs, you’ll collaborate closely with a passionate team, overseeing the delivery of vital community safety programs across the region.
Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities, from coordinating program delivery in remote communities to providing support and training to ensure effectiveness. You’ll be tasked with managing resources, recruiting and mentoring staff, and analysing data to drive continuous improvement. But perhaps most importantly, you’ll be a beacon of leadership, shaping the future of community safety through proactive engagement and collaboration.
You’ll be someone with at least 12 months of experience in a similar role, eager to immerse yourself in Aboriginal culture. While your base will be in Alice Springs, be prepared to travel, up to three weeks in four, to remote communities within the MacDonnell Region.
Holding a current C Class driver’s license is essential; and experience using a 4WD, would be great, but not essential. You will be trained and receive a 4WD Certificate. We are seeking a candidate who excels in communication, able to foster collaborative relationships with community stakeholders. Additionally, you’ll have a knack for training and mentoring staff with varying levels of literacy and numeracy.
In return for your dedication, we offer a competitive salary starting at $83,580, with room for negotiation. Additional benefits include 11% superannuation, 17.5% leave loading for 6 weeks of annual leave, and the option for salary sacrificing. But beyond the numbers, you’ll find yourself part of a supportive team environment that values work-life balance and family-friendly policies. Opportunities for personal and professional growth abound, with ongoing training initiatives to help you reach your full potential.
