The Role
We’re always looking to increase our impact and help more people– striving to continually improve is in our DNA at Orange Sky. This role is a key member of our dynamic Operations Team, vital to the growth of the team within Orange Sky as well as the smooth operation and improvement of remote and indigenous services across Australia.
Orange Sky is growing its impact in remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and is looking for an additional Remote Coordinator to help establish and manage its services.
We are looking for a person who is connected to Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities and has a strong understanding of the historical, geographic, health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Strong communication skills is a core attribute of the person we are looking for. The role will include administrative tasks, application of a number of project management tools and processes, logistics and asset maintenance. This role will provide a unique opportunity for travel to some remote communities; therefore, you will need to be aware and respectful of cultural protocols and be willing and adaptable to travelling, living and working closely in a small team.

The applicant ideally has experience in a similar role within a fast-paced organisation, ideally within the not-for-profit sector and working with diverse stakeholders. Additionally, the ideal applicant has:
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture, values, and ways of doing business.
- Ability to maintain quality and consistency of service, safety, and culture throughout the services in your designated region, which includes incident and risk management.
- Exceptional Relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders (eg: local councils, government, funders, and other stakeholders as necessary to continue to promote and grow the work of Orange Sky in your region.
- Demonstrated understanding of the health, social and emotional wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Excellent administration, time management skills and the ability to manage complex and competing demands and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently, and within a team
- Thirst to grow and develop as a member of the Orange Sky team
- Proactive attitude, and a genuine passion for our cause
- A willingness to undertake significant travel within Australia.
Special Conditions: All applicants must nominate an Aboriginal person or a Torres Strait Islander person who can attest to their ability to meet the cultural capability criteria. This person may be a community member, supervisor or work colleague.
