Manager or Director Role
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Partnership and Business Development Manager or Director (depending on experience) to join Oceanic Global (OG) and lead our charity partnerships, sponsorships, donor relations, and 360 strategic partnerships with the objective of securing funding for our organization, core programs, and events. Responsibilities include identifying, soliciting, securing, maintaining, and reporting on relationships with corporate and foundational partners and sponsors, as well as individual donors to drive both ongoing fundraising and funding of key initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a highly-networked, proactive individual with creativity and passion for providing environmental solutions for our planet and oceans’ health. Strong background or foundation in sponsorship, fundraising, and business development initiatives is required.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning, Business Development, Implementation, Tracking & Reporting
Strategy & Engagement
- Work with the Executive Director, CFO, and Director of Partnership Marketing and Events to set and track towards fundraising metrics, target milestones, and KPIS
- Develop and implement a comprehensive partnership and development strategy and timeline aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Research, identify and prospect potential partners, sponsors, and donors including corporations, nonprofits, foundations, government agencies, individual donors, etc.
- Strategize and lead on engagement with opportunities for specified partnership/fundraising categories as they relate to OG core programs ie: passive beneficiary partnerships, cause marketing partnerships, event & program sponsorships, volunteer & employee engagement initiatives etc.
- Work with relevant program Directors to strategize and secure development opportunities for key programs including: the Blue Standard (‘Blue’) through portfolio exploration, partnership integrations, diversifying stakeholder networks and more.
- Build and maintain relationships with new & existing stakeholders, including executives, decision-makers, individuals, and influencers, to drive ongoing partnership, sponsorship & fundraising opportunities
- Lead on creation of materials to support partnership and business development including Oceanic Global’s annual giving campaign, communications documents, outreach collateral, proposals, pitch materials, sponsorship packages, etc.
- Help to establish vetting guidelines or criteria for partner and sponsors to mitigate risks to the organization and/or event and ensure prospective partners are mission-aligned with Oceanic Global’s work
- Lead the negotiation and execution of partnership agreements, including terms, pricing, and deliverables.
- Drive short-term and long-term fundraising efforts in alignment with the comprehensive strategy & surrounding key activations
Project Management & Reporting
- Establish and maintain partnership CRM system and tracking mechanisms for partners, sponsors, donors, and general fundraising opportunities
- Manage a comprehensive reporting system to track and communicate the progress and outcomes of partnership and development efforts internally for senior leadership and cross-functional teams, as well as externally for key stakeholders and partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, events, programmatic and finance, to ensure successful implementation of partnership initiatives.
- Track, monitor and report on the outreach strategy and status of efforts and optimize effectiveness as necessary
EXPERIENCE
Required:
- A self-starter and strategic thinker who brings a positive, entrepreneurial and practical attitude to growth and building new opportunities
- A diverse network of sponsor or donor contacts in international markets to support Oceanic Global’s global programming initiatives
- Minimum of five years’ experience with proven track record in partnership development, sponsorship and/or fundraising development
- Proven track record of success securing and stewarding six and seven-figure gifts and sponsorships from foundations and / or corporations and organizations.
- Experience developing and implementing institutional and corporate funding strategy.
- Knowledge of the corporate giving landscape and trends.
- Ability to foster positive, productive relationships, collaboration and teamwork
- Strong communication skills, including written, verbal & interpersonal communications, as well as, copywriting and presentation skills. Ability to communicate sustainability expertise smoothly and effectively and effective negotiating contracting terms.
- Good organization skills with a methodical approach to planning, analysis, presentation of information and an ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills and good sense of humor.
- Attention to detail.
- Experience or willingness to learn Coda, Figma, Google Suite (Google Doc, Google Sheets, Google Drive), AI integrations, Slack, and Zoom meeting management.
- Resourceful, efficient, a good problem solver, organized, and the ability to work independently and remotely.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- Willingness to work with a global clientbase.
- Global mindset, genuine desire to create positive impact and inspire others to protect our ocean and our planet.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Passionate about ocean conservation and environmental sustainability
- Practical experience driving initiatives for environmental and social impact
- Experience working with a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system for tracking of possible funding/sponsor opportunities/partnerships
- Strong consulting background
Time Commitment
- Working hours Eastern Standard or Greenwich Mean Time
Time, Location and Salary
- Full-time salaried position – 40 hours per week
- The PTO package includes 21 days paid time off plus 11 public holidays
- Healthcare stipend
- Location: Remote. Ideally located in New York (or other major city) but not required. Would need to work EST or GMT hours.
- Salary $60,000-$90,000, depending on location and role experience, including proven ability to succeed in this role.
