Be an integral part of the Cougar Center one-stop student service team, providing critical information to students and prospective students and families. Learn about WSU Vancouver, our mission, and how to support student admissions and ongoing student success.  

Summary of Duties

Provide customer service in multiple modalities, including in-person and phone, as a member of the Cougar Center one-stop student services team to support recruitment, enrollment, and student retention for the university. This includes assisting Cougar Center student employees by researching answers to technical financial aid and account questions. Requires in-depth knowledge of university policies and procedures to serve students, both prospective and current.

Exercise independent judgment to decide when students need to be referred to another unit or resource. Maintain a solid understanding and application of policies related to student accounts, admissions, financial aid, and registration. Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate university and department policy information to a diverse audience. Coordinate and perform cashier duties pertaining to student accounts and activities. This position also processes student documents and tracks data.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Cash handling experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively serve diverse populations in multiple modalities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Customer service experience in a higher education environment (financial aid, scholarships, student accounts, etc.).
  • Experience using modern office technologies, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email/calendaring, and presentation software.

Essential Duties:

75% Cougar Center Customer Service

15% Cashiering and Student Accounts Coordination

5% Cougar Food Pantry Support

5% Other duties as assigned.

Work Location and Schedule: 

The position will be primarily on-campus with the possibility for a limited hybrid work schedule, depending on coverage needs.

Monthly Salary:

 $3,376 to $4,497 A-M, Range R-40. Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
