About Us:
Full Stop Australia is a not-for-profit organisation, operating nationally, but based in Sydney. Our mission is to put a full stop to sexual, domestic, and family violence and to support those who have been impacted by violence and abuse. We operate the NSW Sexual Violence Helpline and a range of specialist Redress and domestic violence counselling services. Full Stop Australia also offers best-practice training and professional services to support safe and respectful workplaces, and advocate for changes to laws, policies, and practices to better prevent and respond to sexual, domestic, and family violence.
About the Role:
The Trauma Specialist role is a part time position working a minimum of six shifts across a fortnight. You will also be required to participate in the night shift roster. You will be part of the Full Stop Australia Trauma Specialist Team providing a service that is client centered, non-judgmental, feminist, supportive and responsive. The purpose of this role is to provide telephone and online counselling, advocate for clients, develop interagency clinical care networks and other supports to people affected by violence and their supporters.
This is a dynamic and varied position. The team provides crisis and ongoing counselling Australia-wide across various sexual assault, domestic violence and Redress services, as well as providing vicarious trauma support to professionals.
Full Stop Australia provides regular clinical supervision and professional development. Please note, this is not a casework position.
About You:
You will be someone who operates with the highest levels of professionalism and ethical behaviour. You will have an awareness of multiple factors which will influence individual clients’ responses to both the trauma and the counselling provided. You will be confident to make appropriate ethical and clinical judgment in your daily work.
You will also have extensive knowledge, skills, and experience in the following areas:
- Commitment to the provision of excellence in counselling services provision.
- Ability to incorporate feminist perspectives within counselling frameworks.
- Detailed understanding other causes and consequences of sexual assault, family and domestic violence.
- Written advocacy and clinical report writing
Your qualifications and experience will include:
- A minimum four-year Bachelor degree in psychology, social work or counselling.
- Minimum three years (full time equivalent) counselling experience.
- Superior emotional competence when operating in a high demand trauma environment.

Salary: This position has been classified as Level 5 under the Social, Community, Home, and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award.
Contract: This is a one year contract (with possible extension) part time position, requiring a minimum of six shifts per fortnight (46.5 hours). Full Stop Australia offers a hybrid model of working, with the option to work part of your hours from home (where applicable).
FSA holds an exemption under the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act and only employs female workers for clinical positions.
