- DVConnect is expanding its Mensline team, which means we have multiple positions available across a 7-day, 8:30am-10:00pm roster.
About our Mensline team
At DVConnect Mensline, our highly experienced practitioners operate a virtual frontline service for men experiencing violence in their relationships and men who choose to use violence. Reaching out for support is an extremely brave thing to do and our practitioners are there to develop and facilitate individualised pathways for a life free from violence and fear.
About the Role
As a Mensline Counsellor, you are the primary point of contact for perpetrators, victims, referral services and other callers, where you will undertake comprehensive assessments based on their experiences and needs. Committed to the caller’s safety and well-being, you will deliver virtual psychological first aid, crisis and evidence-based counselling and appropriate referral pathways. We also provide outbound calls to client’s referrals from the Queensland Police and Correctional Services. In contribution to our service delivery, it is imperative that you continuously uphold positive networking and stakeholder engagement with all service providers.

Does this sound like you? (Selection Criteria):
- Proven experience in at least one (1) of the following areas: Domestic, family and intimate Partner Violence, sexual violence and abuse, specialist trauma counselling or mental health sector.
- Completed tertiary qualification(s) in Psychology or Social Work or other relevant qualification(s).
- Experiences in virtual service delivery or 24/7 support services (desirable)
- Demonstrated understanding of the determinants, dynamics and impacts of domestic and family violence and related issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012, Domestic Violence Orders and Child Protection Act 1999 (or willingness to acquire)
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency IT knowledge and touch-typing.
- Availability to work across a 7-day roster.
