Salary: JOD 40,500-45,000 gross per annum

WFD’s Jordan programme aims to support the Jordanian House of Representatives. To ensure the programme is delivered with WFD’s good standard, high quality, and meet donors’ requirements, we are looking to recruit an experienced individual to lead on the effective delivery of these programmes.
The Country Representative Jordan leads WFD’s overall work operational and programme function in Jordan. Officially started in January 2024, the programme supports the Jordanian House of Representatives to strengthen its legislative and oversight roles, as well as its outreach to, and inclusion of, women and youth.
The Country Representative provides senior-level representation for WFD in Jordan supporting understanding of the country context, and WFD’s role in contributing to positive outcomes. This position’s key responsibilities and deliverables includes, guiding WFD’s strategic direction in Jordan, leading business development, and building WFD’s reputation and professional networks.
This role will also influence and engage with a wide range of contacts across different groups of stakeholders, external stakeholders include, senior officials in the Jordanian House of Representatives, the EU Delegation to Jordan, the British Embassy in Jordan, donors, consortium partners and peer organisations, amongst others.
About You.
This top-level position will likely be held by someone who brings substantial and exceptional understanding of Jordan’s governance challenges, political dynamics, and political economy.
We are looking for someone who can bring significant experience as a practitioner and implementer, with the ability to support the work of the country team delivering high quality, adaptive and politically informed programming, primarily through the delivery of a 3-year EU-funded consortium programme.
This individual must have a sound understanding of the donor landscape in Jordan and proven ability to attract new in country funding and support, and the following
- Educated to degree level with minimum 7 years of relevant working experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the political environment in Jordan including of recent developments in political party, CSO and parliamentary matters under the political modernisation agenda.
- Direct demonstrable experience of implementing programmes engaging the Jordanian parliament and/or working knowledge of Jordanian parliamentary dynamics and ways of working.
- Experience implementing large-scale EU-funded and/or other institutional donor funded programmes, and knowledge of donor compliance requirements.
