ABOUT EARTHCORPS:
EarthCorps, a Seattle-based nonprofit, aims to foster thriving communities and ecosystems worldwide. Through immersive training programs, it brings together young adults (aged 18-26ish) from diverse backgrounds to develop skills in community building, environmental restoration, and reflective practice. Committed to anti-racism and inclusivity, EarthCorps is dedicated to creating a network of culturally competent leaders who restore vital lands and waters while shaping a more sustainable future.
CREW MEMBER PROGRAM:
EarthCorps offers hands-on experience in environmental restoration through its Crew Member program. Working in teams led by EarthCorps crew leaders, members undertake on-the-ground restoration projects across Western Washington. By directly improving land resiliency, restoring habitats, and engaging communities, Crew Members contribute to a healthier environment while developing professionally and personally.
PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & INTENDED OUTCOMES:
FIELD SERVICE (80% of program):
Crews complete restoration projects in various settings throughout the Puget Sound region. From invasive plant removal to trail construction, Crew Members actively contribute to ecological restoration efforts. Camping trips deepen team development and outdoor skills, providing valuable experiences for Corps Members.
TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS (20% of the program):
In addition to fieldwork, Corps Members attend trainings covering habitat restoration, community building, and leadership development. Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities, members gain valuable insights and skills necessary for effective environmental stewardship.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE:
CORPS MEMBER TERMS OF SERVICE:
Corps Members serve from June 18, 2024, to November 22, 2024, receiving a living stipend of $2,979 per month and a housing stipend of $340 per month. They must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and adhere to safety protocols during service.
