About the role:

Anglicare’s Cross-Cultural Services team works in partnership with churches, equipping and supporting members as they reach out and respond practically to their multi-cultural communities.

A key part of our work is to support the many Anglican churches who offer English classes under the banner of Everyday English as a part of their community outreach. This ministry is a practical way to assist those needing to learn English and adjust to a new culture.

As an advisor and trainer you will be consulting with church teams to provide cross-cultural support. This will include practical help, providing resources, as well as facilitating training for small groups and contributing to large events. This is a varied role with a high level of flexibility.

It is Permanent Part-Time, 4 day per week, 30.4 hours per week based in Liverpool, NSW.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Giving relevant and flexible support to Anglican Churches within the South Western region of the Sydney Diocese that builds accessible community connections, including but not limited to supporting Everyday English.
  2. Contributing to growth in cross-cultural support provided to churches. This includes identifying and developing opportunities to establish or expand Everyday English classes, providing cultural awareness resources and training as required and equipping churches to integrate people from CALD backgrounds into church life.
  3. Ensuring high stakeholder engagement by collaborating and maintaining ongoing and regular communication with parishes, Cross Cultural Advisors, Anglicare Community and Mission staff and other stakeholders.

About you:

  • Actively demonstrates Anglicare’s values of Integrity, Justice, Compassion and Excellence.
  • Personal Christian commitment and a missional motivation
  • Tertiary qualifications – Post-graduate TESOL or other adult education qualification
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence
  • 3+ years previous experience teaching English language to adults and/or delivering workplace/volunteer training
  • Desirable would be experience in paid or voluntary work leading teams (volunteer or paid) in a church, workplace or community organisation
  • Flexibility to work outside of core business hours (e.g. occasional weeknights or weekends), on a time-in-lieu basis
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended
