The CERES School of Nature and Climate is a response to the climate and ecological crisis. CERES School of Nature and Climate consists of three delivery areas: Student Programs, Teacher Programs and Adult Learning. Our education offerings are designed to develop skills, leadership, and resilience. We strive to equip people to think differently, act for the planet, and be resilient and responsive citizens.

CERES has been delivering environmental and cultural education programs to students for over 40 years. Each year we reach over 62,000 people who come to CERES for excursion programs and tours and our incursion staff visit over 13,000 students in schools.

About CERES Student Programs

Through experiences in our park, activities in schools, and online, the Student Programs Team nurtures practical skills a love for nature, and an appreciation for cultures.

This position will work in the Student Programs team and play an essential role in the CERES School of Nature and Climate team, providing interactive learning experiences for school-aged children in our park and if desired and required also online and in schools.

Our wide range of student programs offers hands-on educational experiences suited for all ages and connect young people to the natural world and cultures with an emphasis on achievable actions to social and environmental issues. The knowledge gained through these programs can be applied in the classroom or at home, providing a link to the wider community.

WHERE YOU COME IN

CERES is located in East Brunswick and has been delivering environmental and cultural education programs to students for over 40 years. Each year we reach over 34,440 people who come for excursion programs and tours and our incursion staff supports over 851 teacher engagements in schools and online.

CERES Community Environment Park is seeking educators, employed on a casual basis, to deliver  Indigenous Perspectives, and Indonesian and Indian cultural activities for visiting school groups, mainly to primary school students.

This involves:

  • Delivering engaging and inspiring activities.
  • Complete paid training, including observing programs and team-teaching.
  • Set-up and pack-up teaching resources, and care for teaching equipment and
    spaces.
  • Providing feedback about the activities to inform continuous improvement.

You will work in the Student Programs team, providing inspiring and engaging learning experiences for school-aged children at CERES, Brunswick East.

This role requires:

Essential

  • Teaching or instructional experience with young people, preferably in the delivery of engaging cultural programs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate global cultural and economic challenges and communicate with compassion, humility, and balance.
  • Show personal initiative in the delivery and coordination of day-to-day operations.

Desirable

  • Evidence of developing and/or delivering engaging education programs, including hands-on activities for students and educators.
  • Qualifications or significant. experience in teaching or similar.
  • Education for Sustainability knowledge and/or experience.
