Would you like to work in a diverse and beautiful landscape rich with culture and the
stronghold of the most iconic bird species in Wales?
The Curlew LIFE project is working at five priority areas across the UK to halt the decline of
breeding Curlew, including at Ysbyty Ifan and Hiraethog in north Wales. In Wales, Curlews are a
high conservation priority with risk of extinction of the breeding population by 2033. Our team
here have been working with farmers, landowners and the local community to implement measures
to improve habitat quality and breeding success of Curlew. We are looking for an enthusiastic
and dynamic person to work with our local community to champion Curlew!
The Role
Leading our community engagement work, you will bring people together from different aspects of
the community and inspire them to take action for Curlew. You’ll help to build a legacy around
this project with people at its heart. The RSPB’s long-term goal is to inspire, motivate and
empower people, allowing them to develop their own strategies for continuing to help Curlews
across the landscape.
Your key focus will be working with farmers, the local community and our established group of
volunteers, building on community understanding and relationships already developed during
Curlew LIFE. You’ll also assist in the development of future Curlew work.
You will be part of a small team working in the project area as well as the wider Curlew LIFE
UK team. You will also tap into the support and expertise of colleagues in other parts of RSPB
Cymru, from communications to policy and advocacy.
Full details in English and Cymraeg attached on our website.
