Curriculum Specialist (Graduate Programs)

Primary Purpose: The purpose of this position is to support the College of Nursing Nurse Practitioner Program Curriculum revisions.

Nature of Work: In supporting the Associate Dean – Research and Graduate Studies, the Curriculum Specialist will work closely with the NP program Academic Lead and curriculum revision team, reporting to the Associate Dean Research and Graduate Studies, and liaising with other University level committees as required (i.e. CGPS, Faculty Council, University Council).

Typical Duties or Accountabilities:

  • Develop and manage project timelines.
  • Support the development of curriculum framework, course and module development, competency-based evaluation, and timetables.
  • Support development of program approval documents for regulatory bodies and University level approval
  • Work closely with development teams
  • Keep detailed records on the curriculum and course development.
  • Provide follow-up documentation post-meetings.
  • Provide support for the faculty, instructor and staff in course and program development.
  • Collaborate with faculty, instructors, staff, learner colleagues, campus community, and members of the broader community.

Education: A master’s degree, preferably with expertise in curriculum design and education of health professionals. 

Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related field. Experience working closely with development teams creating new projects/curriculum development is essential to this role.

Skills: In this role, the incumbent will be simultaneously work with multiple projects, individuals, and teams. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with faculty, instructors, staff, learners, the campus community, and members of the broader community is foundational to the success of this project and integral to this role.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent writing skills tailored to each communication method, purpose, and audience
  • Proficiency in using online platforms for communication and for displaying information
  • Use continuous quality improvement approaches
  • Experienced in data analysis and reporting
  • Meticulous record keeping, identification, and consolidation of key information from development teams to inform the work of the team and related initiatives
