Position Summary
The Washington University School of Medicine Operations & Facilities Management Department provides a range of services for the medical campus in a customer-focused, efficient, and sustainable manner.
Operations & Facilities Management maintains 61 university buildings and provides operational, planning, and construction services to over 8.3 million gross square feet of space. We will open three new facilities between 2023 and 2025 with over 1.5M BGSF. In addition, the School of Medicine continues expanding its reach on and off campus in teaching, clinical care, and research. Our team plays a vital and important role in delivering care, research, and services.
The position provides custodial services for a department by performing various cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and healthy work area for staff and visitors. This position is a second-shift position. Hours are typically Monday – Friday, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collects and disposes of trash and waste products by taking them to the appropriate compactor.
  • Cleans disinfects bathrooms, sanitizes telephones, washes desks, and cleans lunch/service area.
  • Performs daily cleaning services to customers and public areas and floor care as assigned.
  • Operates mechanical floor cleaners, vacuums and utilizes mop buckets, wringers, etc.
  • Mops, buffs and maintains all floors and dust/vacuums work areas and offices.
  • Works with cleaning chemicals and understands safety data sheets for those chemicals.
  • Washes interior and exterior windows.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Working Conditions

  • 2nd shift schedule is typically Monday – Friday 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM.
  • Some weekends and overtime may be required.
  • Exposure to chemicals.
  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
  • Frequent lifting 25 pounds or more.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of general housekeeping equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand labels and operating instructions on equipment and chemical containers.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

Grade
G03-H

Salary Range
$15.25 – $20.16 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
