Position Summary
The Washington University School of Medicine Operations & Facilities Management Department provides a range of services for the medical campus in a customer-focused, efficient, and sustainable manner.
Operations & Facilities Management maintains 61 university buildings and provides operational, planning, and construction services to over 8.3 million gross square feet of space. We will open three new facilities between 2023 and 2025 with over 1.5M BGSF. In addition, the School of Medicine continues expanding its reach on and off campus in teaching, clinical care, and research. Our team plays a vital and important role in delivering care, research, and education.
This position provides customer service during the 2nd shift to students and residents of on-campus housing located at the Core Residence. The Customer Service Clerk makes regular rounds, ensures the common areas are clean, answers phone and email inquiries, and is warm, helpful, pleasant, and responsive to guests and residents. This position performs various tasks to maintain a safe and healthy facility.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves in a supporting role for building, grounds, and apartment unit needs, including, but not limited to, maintenance requests, lock-out and security needs, and other issues as they arise.
  • Provides customer service for students and residents in the main lobby of Core Housing by maintaining a friendly and alert presence and assisting with accurate information and directions.
  • Monitors the phone and CCTV system, answering all calls quickly and courteously. If an emergency occurs, contact Protective Service immediately.
  • Maintains building cleanliness according to established facility standards.
  • Properly follows and enforces all Fitness guidelines and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • The typical shift is 3:30 p.m. – 12 a.m., Monday – Friday.

  • Effective organization skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Demonstrate dependability and reliability
  • Operate in a team-based environment.
  • This position requires the ability to multi-task while remaining courteous and friendly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic attitude are necessary; some customer service experience.
  • Good organizational skills are necessary and proficiency using computers is important.
  • The individual holding this position must always be courteous and professional.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in customer service.

G04-H

Salary Range
$16.08 – $21.47 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one’s qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
