The Role:

 

Oxfam GB is looking for a Data Engineer to join the Data and Integration Team. As part of the team, you’ll be involved in all aspects of support and development of the Oxfam Data Platform, from monitoring pipelines to building new data sets and incorporating new data sources.

 

Daily you’ll work closely with other engineers, architects, administrators, developers, business analysts and users to expand our portfolio of data services and provide the support that keeps existing services stable and secure.

 

This role is core to supporting our Data Strategy and delivering reporting, insight and data solutions to the whole organisation. In this role you will be contributing to the success of a wide range of Oxfam GB’s activities.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

 

  • Ability to meet deadlines, handle and prioritise simultaneous requests, and manage laterally and upwards.
  • Creative and analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Both SQL development skills and ETL experience with T-SQL transformation abilities.
  • Proficient at writing efficient, maintainable code and test coverage.
  • Our tech stack includes SQL, C#, T-SQL and Python. We don’t expect you to know it all but a keenness to learn is essential.
  • Experience of adopting cutting edge technologies to deliver market leading solutions.
  • Experience of hybrid and/or cloud architectures that utilise Azure or AWS.
  • Experience of release management lifecycles.
  • Ability to design and implement new processes and facilitate user adoption.
  • Self-motivated and able to proactively engage in self-development activities relevant to the role. You are happy to share knowledge and coach others within the team.

Flexfam:

 

We believe flexible working is key to building the Oxfam of the future, so we’re open to talking through the type of flexible arrangements which might work for you. We think this role would work particularly well as a part time, full time or partially home-based role. We currently meet once or twice a month in person in Oxford as a whole team, smaller groups may meet in Oxford more frequently if convenient and some members of the team are entirely office based.
