We are:

Refugee Advice and Casework Service (RACS), one of Australia’s oldest and most successful dedicated community legal centres with a vision of justice and dignity for refugees and a world where those who seek Australia’s protection can live their lives with dignity, security, family unity and freedom.

RACS provides free, dedicated legal services to people seeking asylum and refugees. Through individual advice sessions, community education and public advocacy, RACS strives to ensure that individuals and families, at risk of persecution or other forms of significant harm, gain access to equal and fair representation before the law, and are granted protection by Australia, and opportunities to seek family unity, in accordance with Australia’s international obligations.

The Role:

The primary role of the Data Integrity Officer is to ensure RACS’ data is reliable and readily available to meet our statutory reporting obligations and support our fundraising efforts.

This is a full-time 12-month contract position based in Randwick. Travel throughout metropolitan Sydney and work from our key locations in Parramatta and Auburn may be required from time to time.

You will:

  • Ensure that client data in our Client Management System (CLASS) is accurately recorded and classified in accordance with the National Legal Assistance Data Standards Manual (DSM)
  • Contribute to CLASS training and updates for staff and volunteers to ensure client data is consistently and accurately recorded
  • Create and run reports on the number of clients and type of support provided in line with our statutory reporting obligations
  • Create and run ad-hoc and other reports to enable our fundraising team to demonstrate the impact of RACS’s work
  • Perform data quality checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Assist the Head of Technology with the implementation of a new Client Management System, in consultation with the legal team

Essential

  • A strong understanding of effective use of data and creating innovative reports that use our data to demonstrate impact with maximum impact.
  • Excellent attention to detail coupled with the ability to problem solve to get to the bottom of issues
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • Confidence using a range of technology, with Intermediate skills in Excel
  • Demonstrated commitment to refugee and human rights issues
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a confident and a respectful manner
  • Ability to work with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

Desirable

  • Experience working on systems implementation or other projects
  • Experience working with people seeking asylum
  • Experience working in a Community Legal Centre or Migration practice and the ability to work in an environment with limited resources
  • Demonstrated ability to use CLASS or similar Client Management System or CRM
  • Communications skills in a language other than English will be considered highly favourably.

Salary

The remuneration for the position is at the SCHADS Award rate Level 3.1 – 3.2 depending on the experience of the successful candidate, plus super. Salary packaging is available to increase your take-home pay.
