Job Description

Panthera is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Coordinator to lead the processing, management, and reporting of all operational data — including law enforcement, human-wildlife conflict (HWC), and encroachment — from Panthera-supported sites in Zambia. Based primarily in the Greater Kafue Ecosystem (GKE), the role will expand to support sites nationally, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and effectively used for decision-making and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the processing, tracking, quality control, and coordination of all operational data from Panthera-supported sites across Zambia, primarily in the GKE.
• Coordinate with field teams to ensure timely and accurate data collection, debriefing, and vetting, stepping in directly when needed.
• Ensure data standards and consistency are upheld across all sites.
• Develop, implement, and ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operational data flows, processing, storage, and reporting across Panthera-supported sites in Zambia.
• Produce actionable data outputs — including presentations, reports and dashboards of maps, summaries, graphs, and charts — for conservation planning and decision-making.
• Lead the preparation of monthly, donor, and annual reports using operational data, with a focus on clarity and utility.
• Attend and present at all relevant operational planning and coordination meetings.
• Maintain oversight of operational data equipment and reporting infrastructure, including control room displays and vehicle data records.
• Ensure all operational data activities comply with Zambian laws, regulations, and data-sharing requirements, and align with the information needs of relevant government partners (e.g., DNPW).
• Be a representative for Panthera within the SMART Partnership, providing feedback, participating in technical discussions, and contributing to shared learning and system improvements.
• Coordinate and facilitate training for field staff on best practices in data collection and data management across all Panthera-supported sites.

Qualifications and Experience

• BSC Wildlife Management, Project Management, Natural Resources or a related field (e.g., GIS)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working within an NGO or the conservation sector
• Proven experience in coordinating and managing projects effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams remotely or in an office setting.
• Practical experience in wildlife law enforcement and/or wildlife management is essential.
• Experience in the Spatial Monitoring Tool (SMART), GIS, EarthRanger or other relevant conservation technology tools is essential.
