Family: We get better togetherJob DescriptionThe OpportunityThe Data Solutions Analyst role is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing team, with potential for future growth and development.The role of Data Solutions Analyst is about much more than analysing. You’ll be engaged at every step of the data value-chain, facilitating the transformation of raw data into valuable data solutions. Think of yourself as the ‘Data Shepherd’, guiding and channelling data safely along the path to becoming valuable business solutions!Your overall objective will be to ensure that data solutions fulfil business needs. You’ll achieve that by monitoring data quality, supporting data issue resolution, brokering collaboration between business and Technology teams, and facilitating data solution development.To be successful in this role, you only need to have basic knowledge of data systems, governance, and technologies. But you will absolutely need to balance your ability to apply your own initiative and work autonomously, with a willingness to seek out guidance and accept supervision from your Manager. This role is best suited to someone with an outgoing personality, who enjoys meeting people leading conversations, because as well as collaborating with your peers, you’ll also need to proactively and energetically bring Technology and business teams together to streamline work on data projects.On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be accountable for enforcing data governance practices, ensuring data compliance, and collaborating with various business stakeholders to maintain data integrity. This role is instrumental in enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our data operations, and ensuring that our data products are reliable, compliant, and valuable to the business.If you excel in this role, then over time you’ll become someone who is known for helping McDonald’s to ‘get data done’, and other people will seek you out for help with their data issues and requirements. That reputation combined with the broad experience you’ll have acquired, means you’ll be ideally placed for further progression in your data career.What will my accountabilities be?
Data Governance & Support:

  • Assist with incidents by identifying the root cause of data quality issues, driving issue resolution, and implementing technical and process improvements to prevent recurring issues and future failures.
  • Enforce data governance practices, ensuring corporate data meets regulatory and compliance standards, including data ownership, retention, and access controls
  • Maintain regular communication with business, technology, and data teams to ensure alignment and collaboration
  • Collaborate with Data Architect, ensuring all changes are clearly documented by updating conceptual and logical models, and aligning data catalogues, definitions and lineage
  • Work closely with our global data governance, products and platforms and enablement team on alignment activities
  • Identify, analyse and document the impact of changes proposed by projects or initiatives

Data Analysis & Insights:

  • Oversee the transformation of raw data into actionable business insights for internal customers
  • Collaborate with broader business reporting teams to enhance data quality and uphold standards
  • Prepare stakeholder reports using the latest data representation tools and techniques to effectively communicate findings to diverse audiences, including colleagues in other McDonald’s markets and the Global function
  • Facilitate requirements gathering meetings to ensure clear and comprehensive documentation
  • Collaborate with engineers and management to identify and implement process improvements, propose system modifications, and supporting data governance strategies
  • Ensure information is vetted for accuracy before sharing any reports or communications with stakeholders.

Supplier Management:

  • Maintain positive relationships with our suppliers to ensure their support aligns seamlessly with data strategy and company objectives and requirements
  • Identify and prioritise potential data-related risks associated with vendors, implementing strategies to mitigate these risks effectively

Other Duties:

  • Effectively manage individual assignments and responsibilities, including setting milestones, managing tasks and actions, and coordinating the execution of plans within specified timelines and stakeholder quality expectations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for colleagues seeking assistance with technical data enquiries
  • Ensure the Data backlog and Data Knowledge Hub are regularly updated to maintain departmental efficiency and operational continuity
  • Maintain the integrity and performance of Data products, through regular product health checks
  • Assist Data Enablement Consultant in ad hoc duties to facilitate departmental operations and initiatives

What Team will I be a part of?The Data Solutions Analyst will report to the Data Enablement Consultant and operate as part of the wider Cyber Security and Data team within the Running Great Restaurant Technology team.Who are my customers?Customers of this role will include:

  • Data owners and business leads from broader business, technology and data teams such as:
  • Business stakeholders: Business Strategy & Insights, Restaurant Solutions Group, People, Marketing & Digital, Finance, Supply Chain
  • Technology: Cyber Security, Service Operations, Asset & Configuration Management, Supplier Management, Deployment & Testing, Innovation & Adoption
  • Change Management: Portfolio Management Office
  • Global: Colleagues in other McDonald’s markets and those working in global and segment functions such as Enterprise Data Governance, Data Products, Back Office & Data Enablement, Reporting Hub, Data Platform & Architecture and GDW RunOps
  • Our vendors and suppliers

QualificationsWhat background do I need to have?Essential requirements

  • Strong technical acumen with a proficiency in relevant technologies and the ability to apply them to solve problems
  • Strong demonstrated experience in a data related field such as Data Governance, Analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), Data Engineering, Data Operations and Data Product teams
  • A bachelor’s degree in a data-related field such as Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline is preferable. However, equivalent certifications or relevant qualifications in Data & Information Technology will also be considered.
  • Proficient in a variety of data technology and platforms such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Talend (ETL), Data Movement, Data Warehousing, Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), and Data Governance and Quality tools
  • Experience using SQL and Microsoft Office, including Visio, PowerPoint & Excel
  • Experience writing and implementing business requirements, process maps, user stories
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with an ability to produce reports, documentation, and communicate with audiences at all levels.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical issues to non-technical colleagues
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across functional teams
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to work under pressure, prioritising tasks, and delivering data requests within agreed timelines
  • Working knowledge of consulting and project management techniques/methods
  • Dedicated to understanding business needs and achieving results that positively impact business performance
  • Possesses a strong work ethic and focuses on delivering business outcomes

  • Experience in Agile methodologies
  • Background in Retail and Hospitality sector
  • Experience working in large-scale data transformation initiatives
  • Familiar with AI technologies
