The Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) is federally listed as a threatened species north and west of the Colorado River under the Endangered Species Act.  The Great Basin Institute partners with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and Clark County Desert Conservation Program to conduct line distance sampling and radio telemetry as part of long-term research and monitoring projects.
