GenV is a world-first initiative that transforms the whole of the State of Victoria into a single dynamic health and wellbeing solutions platform, breaking down barriers in research to solve pressing questions, and translating that into tangible actions that can improve children’s health, development, and well-being. One of the world’s largest birth cohorts, GenV will be open to all 160,000 babies born in Victoria over two full years. At its foundation are consent; use of existing data and biosamples; augmented with GenV-specific measurement; and careful consideration of design to maximise its multiple-use potential.

The Platform & Operations team provides a leading technical platform that fully enables GenV’s Participant, Science, and Data streams. Our platform consists of several integrated technologies supporting GenV operations, participant surveys and data management. The first iteration of our platform has been delivered which supports the recruitment, and collection of data. You have the opportunity to become a key contributor to the next iteration of our platform that derives value from the data we are collecting and integrating with, ensuring our data is both secure and has utility.

As part of our highly motivated, flexible, and skilled Platform & Operations family, you will play a critical role supporting and delivering enhancements to our datastore solution.

The Database Engineer Administrator will work within a the GenV Platforms & Operations team which is responsible for development, maintenance, and support of RedCap, WeGuide, Salesforce, OpenSpecimen and PostgreSQL solutions. You will work closely with product owners, analysts, solution architect, testers and delivery lead to ensure solutions developed are fit for purpose.

Your responsibilities include:

• Install and configure database systems, patches and upgrades
• Implement new databases and associated objects
• Develop and support customised database productivity tools and utilities
• Communicate and consult with internal stakeholders to refine business requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
• Ensure the scalability and robustness of software and database solutions: high-availability, redundancy and disaster Recovery

About you:

• A tertiary qualification in related discipline plus an appropriate level of expertise gained from a combination of experience, training, or professional accreditation
• 3+ years of experience in similar role
• A proven ability to work with technical engineers, data managers, and data scientists
• (Desired) Cloud experience
• (Desired) Experience with medical research, scientific research or clinical health services
• (Desired) A sound understanding of Data Engineering practices
