UNICEF Moldova is taking part in the seventh edition of the United Nations Diversity Internship Programme, alongside other UN agencies. This annual initiative, launched in 2016, is dedicated to promoting equity and equal opportunity within the United Nations System, by fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment.

The programme is designed to achieve two key objectives: to empower individuals from marginalized groups to pursue meaningful employment in the open labor market and to enhance diversity and representation across UN entities. Since its inception, the programme has supported and empowered 62 individuals from a wide range of underrepresented groups.

UNICEF’s mission in Moldova is to make sure every child in the country is healthy, educated and safe from harm, therefore having the best start in life and a fair chance to reach her or his full potential and benefit from the country’s prosperity. We believe children have a right to live in a more equitable society, where their voices are heard, and needs met as a matter of priority in line with the Sustainable Development Goals. How can you make a difference? 

The Diversity Inclusion Intern will report to the Representative, who will assume the role of the Mentor during the assignment. Under the supervision and guidance of the Mentor, the intern will perform a variety of tasks for the Section, while providing the necessary support.

Key responsibilities 

• Assist the organization of various meetings, events and activities organized by the office and draft minutes and / or take discussions notes or short informative notes of the mentioned events, as well as assisting the relevant communication with invitees.
• Attend relevant trainings, and/or thematic roundtables and actively participate in all capacity building activities, implemented within the UN Diversity Internship Programme.
• Provide substantial contribution to accurate office documentation evidence, systematization and archiving.
• Provide support to planning and implementing the raising of human rights awareness, advocacy actions and social media campaigns as well as mapping and tracking progress of ongoing disability inclusion initiatives of the office.
• Other duties as assigned by the Program Mentor(s).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will …

Eligibility requirements:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have completed secondary education.
• Be enrolled in an undergraduate or higher degree programme or have graduated within the past two years.

Minimum requirements:

• Have good oral and written communication skills.
• Be fluent in Romanian and working knowledge of English is required, knowledge of Russian or other language relevant for Moldova is an asset.
• Have basic computer skills – operating MS Office programs, archiving computer files, online research capabilities; word processing, using spreadsheets and/or databases; creating presentations.

Desirables:

• Have proven commitment to the core values of the United Nations; in particular, respecting differences of culture, gender, religion, ethnicity, nationality, language, age, HIV status, disability, sexual orientation, or other status.
• Display of cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
