As a Defense Mission Expert, you’ll bring your leadership, consulting, strategic, operational, technical, and planning expertise to work alongside thought leaders in consulting and analytics on projects for the Department of Defense. You’ll use your skills and expertise to research, develop, analyze, assess, plan, and support defense and international security missions.

You Have:
Experience working in a complex and dynamic multi-stakeholder bureaucratic environment, including with Department of Defense, State, and interagency organizations
Experience managing projects and teams with diverse stakeholders and personnel
Experience demonstrating meticulous attention to detail in preparing and delivering written and oral communications for executive levels
Knowledge of Department of Defense, State, and interagency organizations’ missions, structures, authorities, capabilities, resources, processes, and cultures
Knowledge of U.S. government roles, responsibilities, and missions related to international security, defense, military, and foreign affairs
Knowledge of the strategic guidance that guides U.S. priorities, including National Security Strategy, National Defense Strategy, National Military Strategy, Contingency Planning Guidance, and the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan, and Department of State strategies and plans
Ability to identify, recognize, and manage potential opportunities and risks and proactively develop creative solutions and execute problem-solving actions
Top Secret clearance
Masters’ degree in Political Science, International Relations, or Strategic Studies
Nice If You Have:
Experience planning, managing, and coordinating all phases of an engagement program, including designing, developing, and executing workshops, roundtables, and senior executive meetings in the NCR and overseas
Experience coordinating with other USG stakeholders, including with multiple DoD and State Department components, other civilian departments and agencies, and intelligence communities, on requirements, developing way ahead, and implementing activities in support of leader guidance
Experience accompanying, supporting, and assisting responsible USG officials when they represent and advocate for equities at various meetings
Ability to analyze and report on complex issues, initiatives, legislative matters, executive orders, agreements, and open source, and classified reporting on these issues
Ability to conduct research and analysis, draft concepts, analytical notes, after action reports, and briefing materials, and prepare monthly status reports
Ability to interpret processes and document lessons learned and best practices for program management
Ability to interact and engage with stakeholders to understand current capabilities, processes, relevant authorities, agencies, policies, procedures, best practices, and lessons learned
Ability to execute extensive, politically delicate intra-agency coordination and coordinate with officials of other executive branch agencies to resolve dynamic issues
Ability to prepare and deliver written and oral briefings, concepts, and proposals to USG representatives and other stakeholders, and read, write, and communicate professionally and effectively across the civilian and military spectrum, including Action Officer, General Officer, Flag Officer, and civilian equivalent levels
Possession of excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Clearance:

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
