Dental X-Ray Technician

Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, Oral Radiology Clinic is looking to hire Dental X-Ray Technician to join the team! The Dental X-Ray Technician provides technical assistance to students and faculty by demonstrating procedures for taking and developing dental X-rays.

Job Accountabilities:

• Performs all routine intraoral radiographic procedures.
• Takes panoramic and occlusal radiographs
• Performs all darkroom technical procedures.
• Sorts and accurately mounts intraoral films
• Assembles and prepares patient records.
• Ensures patient x-rays are forwarded to chart area.
• Demonstrates to students and faculty the proper use of x-ray equipment and processing of film. Provides input to students and faculty on appropriate x-ray procedures.
• Assists faculty in supervision of students’ clinical/laboratory experience. Critiques student exposed radiographs for technical quality.
• Maintains clean, business-like and professional work areas. Performs scheduled equipment cleaning and maintenance procedures. Alerts supervisor to equipment malfunctions on a timely basis.
• Complies with radiation health and safety procedures and infection control procedures.

Requirements:

• Must have dental X-ray certification from an accredited program
• Ability to perform full range of X-rays independently. Experience with state of the art X-ray equipment.
• Ability to communicate with patients, students, faculty and staff
• TB test required within three months of hire.

FIGHT ON!

The hourly rate range for this position is $22.01- $24.25. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Specialized/technical training
Minimum Experience: <1 year
Minimum Skills: At least three months’ experience in a dental externship, dental X-Ray certification from an accredited program, and valid California X-Ray License required. Ability to independently perform full range of X-Rays with modern X-Ray equipment. Ability to communicate with patients, students, faculty, and staff.
