The College of Health Solutions, Human Resources department, is actively seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Department HR Generalist, Sr. This position will provide complex and confidential HR services across the college. As an integral part of our team, the ideal candidate will possess a diverse skill set and a passion for fostering a positive work environment. Reporting to the Assistant Director, this role will provide a wide range of professional human resources services and responsibilities of a complex nature, including but not limited to employee relations, recruitment, employment, training and development, benefits administration, policy implementation, and organizational development. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask effectively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Salary Range

$52,108 – $65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Assists in developing recruitment strategies; assists in the hiring process, provides information and consultation regarding employment issues including, but not limited to transfers, promotion, category changes, reduction-in-fore, and re-assignments. Assists in the onboarding and off boarding process.
  • Participates in strategic planning with respective departments working with central HR to help the college meet present and future goals.
  • Develops strong partnerships with various colleges/departments to positively influence organizational performance and results.
  • Verifies human resources documents and forms to ensure compliance with established human resource policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with leadership to improve working relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention.
  • Develops and updates job aids and business process guides to ensure consistency with changes in procedures, practices, and/or regulations.
  • Assists with the development and revision of training sessions, workshops and seminars for staff, faculty, and students; schedules training sessions, workshops, and seminars; prepares and presents training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
  • Provides HR guidance and policy interpretation when appropriate.
  • Advises and consults with employees and management related to employee coaching, performance management, organizational development, performance evaluations, and termination.
  • May supervise student employees.
  • Assists and participates in a variety of departmental programs and meetings to represent interests of human resources and ensure integration/collaborative support of university wide interests.
  • Tracks key metrics in the college. Analyzes and reports on relevant HR performance indicators related to employee performance, training, staffing, employee relations, and compensation.
  • Develops and promotes strategies to address appropriate training.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field AND six (6) years of professional human resources experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
  • Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include or are subject to resolution of conflicts.

The College of Health Solutions (CHS) is dedicated to translating scientific advances into practical interventions to improve health outcomes through education, research and service. We equip students with the knowledge and skills to influence healthier lifestyle choices; develop creative interventions to improve the health of people and populations; analyze and translate large amounts of health data into solutions; and maximize the technology, science, business and application of diagnostics. CHS research programs encompass basic, discovery science, clinical trials, intervention science and measurement of  health outcomes. CHS takes an interdisciplinary approach to address the complex systems that underpin health problems. The college is highly collaborative, transparent and team-oriented with an organizational structure that includes translational teams, affinity networks and academic programs to improve the health of people and communities.

The current training programs include behavioral health, biomedical diagnostics, biomedical informatics, exercise science, health promotion, health sciences, kinesiology, medical studies, nutrition, population health, science of health care delivery, and speech and hearing science. Our programs are offered at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix, Tempe, Polytechnic, West and Lake Havasu campuses, as well as on Mayo Clinic’s campus in north Phoenix.
