The Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC) is adding the role of Deputy Director to its team and is looking for a strategic, equity-focused, mission-centered individual to join in this role.
Reporting to – and working closely as a partner with – the Executive Director, the Deputy Director will be a seasoned leader and coach, with the ability to operate on strategic and managerial levels to help guide the organization across programmatic functions. This role is being created as part of the transition to support the organization’s new Executive Director. (That position will be posted later in April. The Deputy Director will have the opportunity to be part of the selection process.) While the Executive Director position is open, the Deputy Director will work alongside the Interim Executive Director.
The Deputy Director will bring proven nonprofit management expertise and experience in community-based programming, team leadership and coaching, program development and evaluation, and budget management. The Deputy Director must see short-term and longer-term pathways for existing and emerging programming; conceptualize and operationalize programming based on broad input; and motivate, develop and unify team members. This key leader will have superb organizational and problem-solving skills; continuously nurture diversity, equity and inclusion within the team and through programming; excel with collaborative leadership; have a deep belief in the power and potential of engaged communities; and be adept with merging systems, data and people power for the greater good.
Programs falling under the Deputy Director include Public Allies (led by a Program Director with 2.5 team members), and multiple offerings in the Neighborhood Services department (2 employees + 2 contractors), including Neighbor Power Indy, Indianapolis Community-Building Institute, and the Neighborhood Grants Program.
INRC team members work hybrid, flexible schedules that support healthy work-life integration. The whole team works at the office on the east side of downtown one day a week (Thursdays, currently) and individuals are often on site 1-2 additional days. Employees have generous time off and access to a range of benefits (health/dental/vision insurance; accident/critical health/hospital insurance; 401k; employer-provided life and disability insurance).
