About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-level leadership role within academic paediatrics. As the Deputy Head of Paediatrics, you’ll be part of a dynamic team at the Melbourne Children’s Campus, collaborating with leading institutions like the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. With a focus on education, research, and clinical care, this role offers the chance to make a significant impact in child and adolescent health while preparing for future senior academic positions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assume senior leadership roles as agreed with the Head of the Department of Paediatrics,
  • Provide leadership and foster excellence in areas of education and/or research as agreed with the Head of Department.
  • Advocate for the delivery of high-quality programs which are evidenced-based, innovative and research driven.
  • Contribute to academic leadership and innovation across the Melbourne Children’s campus.

Who We Are Looking For
You demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and leadership in paediatrics, driving discipline advancement. You foster innovation and mentorship, embodying selfless leadership and ethical values, valuing diversity.

You will also have:

  • A medical qualification registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Board (AHPRA)
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent qualification
  • A research doctorate or equivalent research experience or qualification
  • A track record of clinical excellence and credentials commensurate with the requirements for a senior clinical appointment at Royal Children’s Hospital, as demonstrated through training and/or clinical experience

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn’t have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
